Pipits move on the ground at this time and that's a big danger for them. Our cat caught one yesterday too, I didn't know what to do with it then, for the bird it was too late anyway.

In the last weeks we've gone a few times for a stroll along the Sava within Ljubljana municipality borders. Most of my attention was of course stolen by the "feathered ones" mežikanje

... only my camera was always a bit "shorter" than I'd like, 'cause most stay far from the path and people... Not sure if all names are correct. If I goofed somewhere, please kindly correct me... nasmeh

Hi Gita! I'm not a great bird expert, though I know some, but my dilemmas are pretty much where yours are. I'd just confirm that both birds in pic 5 are grey herons, as this heron sometimes hunches up so much, like the left one in the pic, but on the other hand it can also stretch high up. Gulls aren't easy to ID either, you gotta be quite an expert.
Yesterday on my walk I too admired two birds and at the same time wondered especially about the first one, how nice it'd be if I had an even stronger lens. velik nasmeh

Your hiking stories inspire me, since your legs still carry you around well and bring me closer to mountain places I can't visit anymore.
Adding a few pics of two thrushes - he and she take turns in our garden, where they search for food every day, obviously for the young ones. But I noticed they stick to the tree shade persistently, where they're less noticeable, so almost all photos are taken in the shade. lp mežikanje
