jaz, hard to identify unknown bird photographed only from the front like that. After thorough study of Asian birds it might be a male Lapland longspur (Calcarius lapponicus). The ornithologist will probably say more if he shows up.

Ornithologist,
cranes are returning - today at half past two above Dobrovo (near Ljubljana) flock of usual size, flight direction: from southwest to northeast. Photo too poor for posting.

That's a snipe or also woodcock, now they are protected, years ago hunters shot them on passage just before dusk. Now no more of that madness.
