Pikica1, yeah thanks. A bit of luck is needed too, to be at the right time in the right place with the camera. These kites are very cautious though, they always want to keep a suitable distance to "intruders", when you cross that line, they immediately move to another position, so it was necessary to follow her skilfully.  lp

Today at 16:55 flock of more than hundred cranes flew east along Vipava Valley towards Ajdovščina.
Geese and herons are present all "winter" anyway; I see geese several times daily flying low.

@zlatica, that paler crested teal is transitioning between winter and breeding plumage. The one behind moulted faster/earlier and is already more or less in breeding plumage.
@mirank, very likely I intercepted your cranes near Podkraj, they continued to Logatec and Vrhnika.
Last couple days solid for cranes. If you've seen them or will, recommend posting your sightings again (location, time, (approx) number, flight direction, pics welcome too).

Yet a third flock in a couple of days - actually two about 500m apart today at 15:25. Altogether over 150 cranes in flight above the northern edge of the Karst, direction more east than northeast.

A tit sat on a green twig. I feed them all winter. Interesting that they don't let sparrows near.
