Darinka, it's a blue tit. On the last picture it's a bearded tit.

After a long time back with us; shots of "processing" the old cherry tree are as they are, because it wasn't possible to get closer.

I'd ask the ornithologist to say which bird was photographed yesterday. A bit larger than a sparrow. Thanks in advancenasmeh

@ločanka, on the photo is the ring ouzel. Belongs among thrushes (related to blackbird), in Slo it's a scarce breeder, in winter individuals from northern populations come to us. They feed mostly on various fruits.

Oh, thanks plezac. I really wouldn't have thought that. From the front side I'd recognize it, this back side though I couldn't identify. I looked at some specimens, and can only agree. But I see it very, very rarely.

In yesterday's newspaper Glas we could read an article -Where are the garden birds this year? The article reassures us that the birds will still come. Unfortunately, I too noticed last year that there are fewer winter bird visitors at my two feeders than in previous years. I start feeding them at the beginning of October and finish in spring. Near home I have a watercourse, the Kokra river and also forest-but no high-stem orchards even at neighbors.

Let me tell you what I fill them with every day as soon as it dawns. I mix ordinary sunflower seeds (not black ones-I've noticed for years that birds don't like them-at least my observations are like that). I also buy a grain mix-but it's less suitable (again only my observations), because it has a lot of wheat grains inside, which birds again don't like (again only my observations). This year I found out that in Kokrica they have seeds of various seeds in some shop (unhusked millet, flax, hemp, mustard and some more-packed 1 kg each) I mix all that and this mix works excellently.

Who all comes to the feeder now? Most of course tree sparrows. Then follow great tits -of tits there are most. Fewer are marsh tits and blue tits.Regularly every morning comes also a small flock of redwings. They regularly clean the ground under both feeders.Every day also about four bullfinches come.Occasionally I see also three great spotted woodpeckers-both sexes.Regularly every day joins also a small flock of siskins.Already last year there were no greenfinches-as there aren't this year either-last years they were quite numerous. This year still no hawfinches, redpolls and goldfinches.Every winter occasional guests are also long-tailed tits. But already second year no collared doves, which every year cleaned under the feeders. I see under the feeders also some coal tits. The pine grosbeak I haven't seen at my place since last year.Last year I noticed also yellowhammer.I observe also dunnock, which nested at my place last year. To blackbirds we regularly put apples. There are really many of them.A couple of years ago in winter at the apples I saw also ring ouzel-I know that fieldfare and song thrush are similar by belly so they could have been those two birds too.

Best regards!

velkavrh, nevertheless you can be quite satisfied. You can't have all at your place at once. Some of them are at the neighbors'.

Happy New Year 2021 dear bird lovers!

I start feeding birds at the beginning of October and stop at the end of April. I have two bird feeders. Just at the end of the year I bought a new one in Kali. Imported from Poland - as if they couldn't make something like that in Slovenia too. It's really very nice. Birds are just getting to know it now. Three days they didn't even look at it. For two days now I've been noticing that all three tits are at it - great, blue and marsh tit. The old one filled from the top I've retired. The new one is also that way. On the old cherry tree I have another different one. Usual visits there. A couple of days ago I noticed the first siskins. No greenfinches yet, which were quite numerous two years ago. Every morning very early I scatter in the feeder a mixture of different seeds - colored and black sunflowers - they don't like them; a prepared seed mix - wheat in it they don't like and five other seeds - hemp, unhusked millet, flax, oil rapeseed, and black seed (don't know what black seed it is).
Open-type bird feeder on an old cherry tree.1
This is available in Kalija - for now sunflowers have not tempted them.2
I buy suet cakes that birds like.3
Retired bird feeder.4
New bird feeder that the birds are just getting to know. Sparrows are still afraid of it. Tits are already visiting it.5
I give them this seed mixture every morning.6

@velkavrh, we have a very similar bird feeder, also from "import". Seems to me these houses are made a bit "so-so", but it serves us for years, though I've reinforced it in some places with wood glue and extra boards and nails, as those "clasps" quickly lose function. And every season or two I paint the outside with wood paint (the one more environmentally friendly, water-based).

She manages somehow. Picks up at neighbor window where they serve food and drink (she had seeds scattered there), then flies to feeder where food awaits too. Here at entrance she also waits, sister scattered some walnuts for her. You know, when she has such a gentle looknasmeh
