This morning first time this winter I noticed long-tailed tits on the feeder. They come every winter. Three hung on the fat cake.

Hi, the pictures show greylag geese. In flight, they have a characteristic contrast in the wings. Which direction did they fly? regards

What kind of geese are those that my dog chases every day across the corn stubble? They don't look like these at all.

I hung food on a branch so cats can't get close. But interestingly they need quite a few days before they discover the food.

Every winter at home the feeders were most visited by sparrows, great tits, crested tit was among them several times too, blue tits, and lesser and middle woodpeckers, chaffinches, dunnocks, here and there a greenfinch... This year siskins appeared for the first time. At first I didn't know them, well I browsed books a bit and solved the puzzle. Every day they come in flocks like sparrows, very lively, restless, darting here and there, only on the ground when pecking seeds do they stay longest.

Here too this year every day some flock, even more than 30 siskins, last season more singly. But this year big drop in birds at feeders - so far no green woodpecker, greenfinches, woodpecker, wren... Occasionally some great tit, blue tit and chaffinch. Even fewer sparrows than other years. We feed birds all year round, don't know why such poorer visits?!

Penduline tit is already weaving its nest. The picture is the beginning of a multi-day series, the end will be a real masterpiece.
