all who are more used to KS, the plan is as follows: Thursday afternoon through Repov kot to Planjava and descent to Kamniško. Next day then over Brana, Skuta, Štruca to Grintovec and back to start. How is the path from Kokrsko sedlo to the hut in Kamniška Bistrica? Roughly how many hours of walking?

I hope you know the path from Repov kot to Planjava.... as for from Kamniško sedlo to Brana, go to Brana and not over it, then Turska gora in between and then you reach Male pode and then climb up the south side to Skuta. From Skuta go to Štruca.... then it depends on you if you'll go to Grintovec over Dolg hrbet, Mlinarsko sedlo to Grintovec or over Velike pode to Mlinarsko sedlo and Grintovec or past bivouac under Grintovec.... Vratca and then to Grintovec.... lots of paths The path from Kokrsko sedlo to Kamniška Bistrica is the easiest of all you have planned

Ugh, quite a big chunk. It seems too late to start only in the afternoon from Bistrica through Repov kot to Planjava and then down to Kamn. sedlo. You'd need a big part of the day for that; darkness mustn't catch you! Now the day lasts until about 19:20, at most until half past seven. And you must know the passages in R. kot; there's no constant path, it's not marked either. Also, it's not good if fog catches you in Repov kot, as the weather won't be ideal. Maybe go on Thursday afternoon directly to Kamniško sedlo, and then, if there's time and will, from there to Planjava. The next day, see how much and what of the listed you'll manage.

Užitkar: my opinion is that you have an oversized plan if you're an average hiker. If you're "redbull" rank, then don't ask us for time frames but him. Otherwise I join the previous comments: for the first day you should start at least at 13:00 to reach Planjava through Repov kot at the pace of a normal hiker and descend to Kamniško sedlo. Second day to Cojzova hut at least 5 hours (from saddle via Kotličeva to T. gora and over Male pode via Sleme and Veliki podi to Cojzova hut - without Skuta and Grintavec). If you include that, count on additional ideal 3.5 to 4 hours, plus return from Cojzova to Dom v K. Bistrica.

Thanks to all for the answers, based on your opinions the plan has changed . Morning start in Kamniška B., to Kamniško-Planjava-Škarje-Ojstrica-Korošica-Kamniška Bistrica. I'm wondering about the timing on this section if I'm 70% Red Bull...?

| ms_primoz2. 10. 2014 09:26:42 |
Yeah, 70% - hmm, that's then 3h for you

Užitkar, given you're supposedly 70% Red Bull I'd think you survive at least 70% as much time in hills/mountains as him and it seems pretty strange what paths you choose and ask about on the forum.
Given you wanted to start only in the afternoon, I'd advise if you have time to start as early as possible.
If you start in the afternoon go from Kamniška Bistrica to Kokrško or Kamniško Sedlo. Then if time allows further or overnight and continue next day.

All I wrote is just my opinion, so if no one follows it it's not my problem

@užitkar You have all the route descriptions up here so you can calculate everything yourself. If something's still unclear, you can call Kam.sedlo and they'll tell you.

If you run it's 5h plus something. If walking then a few hours extra. At 9am you have a nice start time.
Good luck

Has anyone been to Brana in the last few days? Accessible without winter gear? Thanks.

| Domch1. 11. 2014 21:25:22 |
Haven't been up, but from Peča the slope looks nicely snow-covered and surely icy. All KSA from the north well snow-covered, except Storžič. Winter gear mandatory imo.

This year's tours over 2000m without gear are out, ice axe always welcome, for crampons decide on the spot if needed.
