great photos. I have to correct you, what you said is a bit funny. The current top in KSA is Brana, which requires or mandatory ice axe, let alone crampons. From the hut to the summit frozen and doesn't settle at all. Other peaks have half conditions, big thaw. Brana doesn't know thaw, as the route is entirely north-facing. Whoever goes up without these two tools, can reserve a bed, knows where. No hard feelings good luck

Maemi, your comments always please me a lot and are very appropriate. Sometimes I remember you, when we met about two years ago on descent from Mišelj Valley, you were returning from Mišelj peak, which you climbed alone via Koštrunovec. That seemed quite courageous to me then. I'm planning that this year.

Dejan, partially you're right, or rather I almost fully agree with you.....just yesterday at the saddle it was around 10 or more plus and the whole north side was quite thawed. Believe me, I used both ice axe and crampons Maemi, it was nice watching the colors change....it's true, at times the gusty wind blew so hard it made me want to cry Pero 24, that was the purpose, to go so late, I really had to walk slowly not to be up too early, because then the wind would really have blown me away waiting for sunset

Something interests me Tomaž, which day were you at this sunset? I was yesterday (Saturday) at two on Brana, where it really was +10 and the whole path was frozen to the end (from the start of the traverse to the summit). So, I don't know where the thaw was there, if there was any it could only be yesterday. good luck

Tomaž11, wonderful pictures. Regarding winter gear, I strongly agree with redbull. The statement "ice axe as needed" can be quite dangerous for Brana; we know where the path can end in case of a slip. On ice axe and crampons I'd say this: when we go in winter to a peak like Brana, they are as mandatory as winter tires for driving on Gorenjska, Kočevje roads... There is a small chance we might not need them, but don't rely on that. The extra 1-1.5kg won't kill anyone, but the opposite can "kill" someone.

Trobec, I also agreed with him, used both, it was written as it was... and I didn't correct it later. I wrote crampons are almost mandatory, which means they needed to be used; for ice axe I wrote as needed, you can have it in hand or attached to the backpack. It depends on the individual when they need them... I met someone who went with crampons almost to Kamniška Bistrica thanks for the pics

OK, at the beginning of the season, when after almost a year we dust off the crampons and somewhat forget the feel of walking with this ironware, it's not wrong if everyone walks a bit longer with crampons on their feet. Where you'll need them, it's not the right moment to gain sensations...

Tomaž, I saw from the pictures that you used an ice axe Just who could misunderstand and leave it in the valley.

Regarding crampons and ice axe at this time of year anywhere in the mountains there shouldn't be any dilemmas and no "saving" on backpack weight. Trobec, comparison with winter tires is more than appropriate. Good luck.

Tomaž11 You know what they say: "Beauty requires patience" (usually not even for one's own) ločanka Definitely remember. Such pleasantly positive company in the mountains is never forgotten Thanks for such a wonderful opinion, it really touched me.... Mišelj'c over Koštrunov'c must still be conquered...obligatory! Hope we meet again somewhere on wild paths.

Yesterday already at 2 am start from Bistrica, so that my buddy and I were at the summit for sunrise. Or rather we missed it by about 20 minutes, due to small orientation issues on the scree (it was still dark). The scree isn't so snow-covered that it doesn't matter where you go up, but you have to dance a bit left right to avoid rocks, because of which we even had to turn back, descend a bit and choose a new path. But extreme caution is needed, as some spots with decent slope are icy. At the summit dreamy views all around....
