Today after almost two years I climbed to Brana again, after recovering from last year's illness. Almost no snow left, because that patch by the path above the Saddle has shrunk considerably. But there's drought too, no water at Krvavški bridge, nor under Pastirci. I saw quite a few new steps from Jermanci up, which is very commendable. Still I had to on the way up and back clear about half a ton of stones from the path, and break about half a cord of wood, because Slovenian pigs - not people - Don't Want to Care for Maintaining Mountain Paths. So I had free fitness, due to All-Slovenian Laziness. Praises again to those brothers who labored to make such good steps under Pastirci. Otherwise Baumann's roof is being renovated well, hope they finish as soon as possible. Tomorrow maybe Planjava falls too, if God provides enough good weather. Nice greeting from the sickbed, bye. But on one section there before the upper gully before the ridge before the gully there's still a dead corner where the marking isn't visible, because the old one's facing northeast. Please, if some marker can apply a brush stroke or spray there, otherwise someone will get lost again, like I did years ago. Path to Brana from Kamniška Bistrica without issues. Before the hut in K.B. they're renovating the bridge, so with more visitors it'll need a bit more patience, as only one-way traffic.
And praise to the path maintainers who started the renovation in the lower part (especially the section under the upper cable car station). Very nicely done.

From Jermance, past the nicely renovated hut at the saddle to Brana.
Not too hot, full of flowers, weather, early still with quite some clarity.

@tinky nicely pictured the flowers, which are really diverse and in full bloom, I unfortunately focus more on the rocky grayness. nasmeh

Although early enough, parking lots jammed with cars, my intuition tells me to park already at the meadow by the hunting feeder. I was right, because up there only a three-wheeler could fit velik nasmeh

With daughter we overtake quite some hikers, mostly heading only to the hut. After tea towards Brana, where I also admired bunches of blooming poppies along the path. On top it was windy, around the cross a bunch of hikers crowded 'enjoying' the wind, we two in pleasant sheltered sunshine twenty meters away. After kitchen renovation years ago when Jerca and Simon ruled, now insulation, hope that means less damp in the winter room too. After two cold beers at eleven quick descent to the valley. Near my car, which was covered in total grayness, a forgetful one left foldable poles, questionable how long they'll stay there, not everyone is 'lijaneja' nasmeh

Today the path led me up here too. This time for a change completely on foot, like in good winter times. I quickly leave the crowded hut because of the running race. Temperature pleasant, even without wind, when I reach Brana it clears up completely, and I enjoy divine peace for at least half an hour. Works on the hut not fully finished yet, afraid it will stay like that over winter.

The young couple spun around to the sounds of the accordion.

Not hot nor cold, temperature in recent days suitable for strolling the peaks. This time from Jermance to Kamniško sedlo and to Brana summit and back the same way. Today up the gully to Kotličev and from there left to the summit. Descent via the secured…
Apart from gusts of quite strong wind at times, nothing special.

On Monday to Brana. Path normally passable, markings still rather faded. On top it was blowing pretty good.

Southern ridge (06.11.22)

Brana from Kamniško sedlo is a classic, direct from Jermanca to the ridge is something else. At six we start from Kamniška Bistrica, just right for warming up and to ascend in peace. At Jermanca we take the hunting path, very familiar to David. We walk along it all the way to Kaptanski plaz. Here we gear up more and head up, but only about 150m along the plaz (not elevation meters). After those meters left along the ridge, more or less grasses. At its end we leave poles here, and with ice axe in hands a bit right and direct up to what we later found out is the one and only difficult slab III. We use rope. Continuation was continuous scrambling II degree. On the right side we saw how to exit from Kaptanski plaz above Bosova grapa. We were quite left and there where I always wondered about nice grasses or real picnic spots. We climb one more easier chimney and already stand at height 1850-1900m on more or less "normal route" for Kaptanska glava or on Brana. Lots of ivy on grasses. Winter coming, but for now no snow. Ksa look snow-free by sight. Short pause at saddle then with some rushing down to valley to Juri for beer.

Very tricky in the future. Rock wedged between trunks, several hundred meters below the path to Kamniško sedlo runs!

rope highly recommended if on this side. How many exactly have been here is also a question?

There right is the exit of Kaptanski plaz, from left Bosova grapa

Has anyone been to Brana in the last few days? I'm interested in the conditions. I believe avalanche danger is gone now.

Kamniška Bistrica, Brana, winter gear mandatory on scree. Towards Okrešelj and later up the edge, mostly dry with one snow patch, but more dangerous due to scree. Just below ridge snowy gully, very steep, not even to try. First left, returned, then chose right free II degree. Great weather on top. Returned along the ridge, it's dry. Last cable on smooth rock, need to turn right soon, I think it's I degree.
