Good that you wrote how some parents treat children in the mountains. It's also right to warn such an irresponsible father on the spot or even report him to the police and thus prevent the father's further abuse of the children. For you it's surely an unpleasant task, yet it's about two young lives, for which it's worth exposing yourselves.

Well, I was at Cjajnik myself, it's really strenuous and for many, especially for kids, a bit inappropriate, no, not for all - without gear you have nothing to seek there, otherwise this tour is gorgeous. LP

Andrejka and Boris, I sign under both. With Klemen we were ready to act and would have done it right away if needed. Thank God it wasn't. As for the crazy dad, I myself had no will to explain to him in my German that he's crazy. Probably I didn't do right, but question what effect. I hope someone like-minded after reading here won't do similar anyway. At least something, right? On Klemen's photo scared teens, sadly can't see it's jeans, basketball shoes and similar fashion stuff. LP Jure

Just something I'd add that you don't need to write 14-16 years under child anymore, right. Teenagers are often up for adrenaline themselves, and also 14-year-olds aren't really kids anymore and could go up alone. In that I think it's the same as a friend taking another friend, not like me taking my little one who's 7 (he doesn't care if it's 10 or 100m below, he's a bit used to it and pretty safe). As for gear, like everywhere you get those Sunday hikers who came from some adrenaline park and see Cjajnik as logical next step. But that's another issue...

If you'd seen their movement on the ferrata you'd probably figure that your 7-year-old has more sense about it than those two combined. My dad, experienced mountaineer and alpinist, took me on tough routes even before I was a teen - but that doesn't mean everyone's like that. Big difference between someone doing it from little under supervision and someone who knows nothing and is forced into it. Whether 14-16 is a kid or not is debate for another forum. The issue is problematic and it's good to say a word or two about it. Right? LP Jure

I agree you can't in sneakers and meanwhile in "flipflops" walk in high mountains to such who endangers self and others I'd salt real punishment so he remembers it whole life !!!!!!

Everyone has the right to endanger themselves (don't understand why anyone would care?). If you play that card that you can't endanger yourself, then you can ban almost all human activities.

Pretty simplistic thinking, whoever endangers himself indirectly endangers others too, in mountains for example the one who endangers himself indirectly endangers the rescue team that has to expose itself because of him.

------------------------------------ SkipEU 16.8.2011 Everyone has the right to endanger themselves (don't understand why anyone would care?). If you play that card that you can't endanger yourself, then you can ban almost all human activities. ------------------------------------ Stupid thinking, in my opinion (if direct) from a stupid head... Igor already answered you nicely, and I join his answer. And this doesn't apply only to hiking, but also to other sports... In any case others bear the consequences, be it rescuers (yes, even the ambulance driver risks his life), family, relatives...

And in a car you can also kill yourself when you crash head-on into someone? And kill an innocent? And with that you only endanger yourself? LOL

I drive to Austria, quickly reach the hut below Košuta, then continue to Cjajnik (D) towards Košutnikov Turn, then descent and over the little bridge back to the hut, all good regarding the path; from Koš.Turn a slightly easier path branches off before the little bridge to the scree. On the ferrata I met no one.

Yesterday hike to Cjajnik and Košutnikov Turn. Weather ideal and views too. Path normally passable! Regards.
