Hiking boots

Cramp'o'matic or new-matic? Although I doubt COM would fit, because Teton has much wider sole than Nepals, but they fit like a glove on mine.

cramp-o-matic undoubtedly, somehow I trust automatic crampons more. Do you know maybe some other automatic (climbing) crampons that would fit well on teton? If no other way I'll go to the store to try, but it's not exactly close (given that iglu doesn't have them) eek

I started with Garmonts (of course summer ones) and strap-on crampons. You can imagine how cold I got on every trip/climb... like a dog!!! But stubbornness and will were stronger than all the frostnasmeh. Then I got Sportivo and automatic climbing Cassin C14, poetry, but the boot's weight started to bother me, so this year it's time for new ones... My feet will be grateful, my wallet a bit lesseek

My start was in Alpina Peak boots and with old hiking crampons (which kept falling offjezen). You were definitely colder in summer bootsvelik nasmeh. In spring I'm counting on Sportivo on sales (most likely Karakorum), so it would also be nice if crampons were still half usable for the other boot, Tetons will easily become work bootsnasmeh

Summer hiking boots are fine for winter tours too.

Probably you meant summer ones. There are no summer ones.mežikanje I don't know which brand and model you have, but they are suitable for easier winter outings. You know that yourself actually. Every more specialized mountain footwear manufacturer has specific models in their offer for specific tasks. And they strictly separate footwear into summer and winter. Actually, 4-season boots are very few or practically none anymore. Why? Weight, material, stiffness (boot hardness), thermal insulation etc. play a big role.
Back to basics: most ordinary summer hiking boots are insufficiently thermally insulated (it's wrong to think Gore-Tex is a good insulator. Far from it. More and more manufacturers are using Primaloft, i.e. synthetic down, Trinsulate membranes or additionally insulating with various synthetic and alu/kevlar foils. The summer boot is thus not the best thermal insulator. Warmth can perhaps be compensated with warmer socks. They are usually a bit thicker, some even put on wool socks... then the boot quickly becomes too tight. There we have it.
Summer boots are also not waterproof, but rather merely water-repellent, regardless of the praised GoreTex membrane. And regardless of impregnation! During a longer, more serious tour, the listed shortcomings quickly become a serious problem.
Yes, if you use them for ascent e.g. to Ratitovec, Baba, Dobrča, Velika planina, Uršlja gora, then it can be compensated.
And fitting classic crampons... they have become more convincing and simpler - and also safer - thanks to plastic clamps both front and back and a single strap, but the use of semi-automatics is something completely different. And the feel on a stiffer, more rigid hiking boot is more secure, with a somewhat safer feeling (at least for more serious tours).

In short, whether (su)mmer hiking boots are suitable for winter tours is an individual decision or depends on one's expectations and ambitions. However, it is necessary to consider the fact that more objective and subjective dangers threaten us in winter time.

Me too, please some advice (especially from some representative of the fairer sex). I am faced with one of life's hardest trials: I must get winter boots for my dear one that must be:
- such that it doesn't get coldjezen
- such that they are not uglyzmeden
(I take responsibility for the second demandvelik nasmeh)
But I also know that:
- they should be for semi-automatic crampons,
- comfortable and wider model,
- not too heavy and stiff, ala Nepali Evo, Alpine Tetons etc. (not thinking about the sole...),
- max difficulty will be like Grintovec or Y in Vrtača in favorable conditions.

Request: Since I've called almost all stores and nobody has these boots, I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get them, specifically the model:

Fitwell Sirius Winter?

It's because I have the previous model, it's excellent, already old and worn out, I need wide and high model and size 12 smile
Thanks for the help

Hi
Turbo, I got some info, they'll inform me during the day about the delivery of just these boots, specifically via TRS store in Vipava.
Thanks for the help.

Sirius winter should surely be available, since it's a winter boot, now is the right season. Fitwell also has K2 alpinist at krakovski nasip. Problem is, if it's not in stock then sellers start complaining they can't get it... or something like that.
