I looked at Jack Wolfskin boots. Does anyone have experiences with them? Price is also solid... LP

Don't expect more than hiking performance from these boots. For a bit more money you can buy much better boot, like Scarpa Ladak, with which you'll be happy and walk comfortably for years. A bit more technical are Fitwell Spirit, also for harder ferratas and off-trail, all for 180-200eur. Jack Wolfskin is good, but non-specialized oriented company that produces many articles.

The Ladakh model is now after long successful years renovated and very similar to the Nepal model.

Is it true that you have to take one size larger gojzarje than your normal foot size?

No. You take the boot that fits the foot best (and that's completely independent of foot size, varies from manufacturer to manufacturer), definitely better if it's at least a bit tight, with too big ones blisters come quick. And they can be more dangerous for slipping, because the foot isn't stable in the boot.

Yeah but you gotta have double socks, so one size larger boots. I have standard 44, first put 44 with double socks could take them off in 3 secs-too tight, tried 45 and it was OK.

F*ck buying boots, cuz not every boot fits every foot.

Wonder if Garmont has wider boots than La Sportiva and Millet. Tried La Sportiva and Millet and they were too narrow for me.

@mate07 nowhere does it say that you have to have double socks. You buy boots that fit right, not too small and not too big. I have Alpina VX 953 boots and always wear just one pair of socks and they've never blistered me or caused any other problems.

I have Alpina Tibet and the first time I wore them with a regular sock and no blisters (not then and never after). Now they are destroyed and I need new ones, does anyone have experience with Asolo boots?

I have a question about impregnation. I own this boot. I'm wondering if I impregnate it nicely with leather cream or if some other spray is needed?

I also have the same model of boots, in the mentioned store they sell spray and grease for smooth leather. Today I coated them with grease, because I'm going to the high mountains soon, where we'll be walking mostly on snow

Last year for Mt. Blanc and this year for Monte Rosa I impregnated my leather boots with Granger's beeswax (5€) and even after a few days of snow they were still completely dry. One box is enough for 2x impregnation, but they need to be dried in between. LP Andrej

Does anyone have experience with Asolo Alpinist GV boots? How do they compare to say Alpina Peak? I'm looking for boots suitable for one or multi-day tours in high mountains in summer (and occasionally in winter too) and that are merciful to my heels even on flatter sections. Thanks for info.

I bought Oakley Special Forces boots, although they weren't under hiking, alpinism etc. category. But I was looking for a boot that's as light as possible, comfortable and absorbs impacts in the sole, non-slip, waterproof etc etc. And I have to praise them because so far they haven't disappointed me. They have a membrane in the sole against punctures, like nail, knife etc which isn't that important for mountaineering. The boots are made for a special unit in America, to withstand all conditions and so far they do. But they need regular maintenance, like any boot.

they are suitable for winter and summer, tested in both seasons. here is a link about the protective membrane against punctures: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmW-I3dlvAM&feature=related
