I have Millet Bouthan GTX boots. For me, extremely good, comfortable, soft. They suit me because I have wide feet. No blisters on the first hike. I recommend.

I also have Millet Bouthan, worth the money. I have had them for the third season already, strong yet comfortable from the start. Very satisfied.

Garmont has slightly wider last, Millet in between, Zamberlan narrower like Scarpa. At least from my experience trying those three shoes. None holds the heel in the last as firmly as Scarpa. Important to me especially with crampons.

Hello!

I'm still new and wonder what boots you recommend.... At work we have a hike 1x monthly, so far I had alpine military boots but when going down the slope they banged me or whatever it's called.
Any help will be useful!

Best regards

Boštjan

I recommend first reading this thread (it says there are no universally good boots), then going to shops and trying many boots in your desired price range to get a feel for which fits your foot best.

You asked too general a question for a precise answer.

Hello
I'm also new to the forum. I have a problem with Salomon Discovery boots. The right boot (sole) squeaks when walking, which is very annoying in company. They are 3 months old, rubber not worn. Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks, Roman

If they squeak, it's a sign they are not paid for or on "credit".velik nasmeh

miri, the answer is not satisfactory, they are paid for.

More seriously nasmeh: try grease.

If it squeaks when dry, by my logic water got into the sole - between the layers. I would take them back and demand warranty. Obviously the sole layers have delaminated and that's it. It used to happen with boots from cheap stores. Salomon probably isn't that. Good luck.

Yeah, what nonsense, madonnaeek, just take them back and claim warranty. Unless you're some ortho weirdo and everything bugs youvelik nasmeh, anyway with such new boots don't "fix" anything yourself.

Try the following:
. . . take off your shoes and take a few steps barefoot . . . and if it still squeaks, definitely not the shoe! ! !

The above less seriously, now a bit more: in some cheap discount store buy a cheap mp3 player, put on headphones and turn the music louder mežikanje you won't hear squeaking anymore zavijanje z očmi

Does anyone maybe have some "experiences" with Garmont IDAHO GTX hiking boots?

Thanks nasmeh

I have them already; this year it'll be the fourth season and they suit me very well.... it depends what you need

these are boots with a very stiff sole and strong ankle support, sturdy and robust, with very little flexibility, they hold the foot almost like ski boots

Do you use them also in summer in high mountains or do you have them more for spring and autumn days? Do you "climb" anything in them (e.g. some III/IV)?

I have only one pair of boots and use them from mushroom picking to via ferrata climbing.... They suit me very well because I need strong ankle support. They can be tightened in two stages, say only the lower part, which is great if you use them like me, I mean for everything. But it's not necessarily that they will suit you too. I tried a bunch of boots, expensive ones only, some were impossible for my foot, some seemed OK, but when I put these on, it felt right away like they were made specially for me.
My advice is to try different models until you find one where your foot says right away "hallelujah", these and no others.

No big deal. They're great for me because they have such stiff soles that even if I step only on the edge of the boot on some sharp rock it keeps my foot steady. Don't know where all you've looked but I recommend checking Anapurna and Pohodnik because they have different makers and try as many models as possible. Take your time to buy boots that fit you perfectly.

Hi! I also have these boots, the sole is really very stiff, need to get used to it (at least for me), now it's really a good boot. First, but really first hike with them was to Rjavina!!! The only problem was sore sole, no blisters at all!!! Good grip on foot and really no problems with them!!!
