I'm deciding on new boots, namely:
http://www.kibuba.com/index.php?&cID=3&scID=145&pID=5488

Is it possible to mount universal crampons on them? Because La Sportiva ( http://www.iglusport.si/cevlji-visoki-ganda-guide ) has a similar model but says universals don't fit! Does anyone have these Salewa boots??

Yes, on Salewas you can mount universal crampons. I have a similar women's model http://www.elanshop.si/obutev/pohodna/3075-pohodni-cevlji-salewa-rapace-gtx-ws.html and wear semi-automatic crampons. I bought the boots mainly because of the weight. Not 100% satisfied with the sole because on snow without crampons it grips worse than my summer boot, otherwise no complaints. I tried them in Begunje at Elan shop. If you decide like that, bring your crampons too and you can try everything.

I'm a recreational hiker who has no experience buying suitable mountain boots for the hills but need help. I'd like to buy something suitable for longer easy and up to demanding trails (according to categorization on hribi.net) and wonder if the boot below is suitable:
http://www.superge.si/Merrell/siren-wtpf-mid-ii-thermo-8321460/
with Merrell footwear I have good experience because I have issues with old injury and they are actually the only ones that don't cause pain on longer hikes... are they also suitable for mountain ascents of the above type?
thanks for the answer.

It's the same with boots as with women (or men). One fits one, another fits another.velik nasmeh

I'm interested if anyone can tell me the difference between Alpina mountaineering boots, namely between models: Tibet 67051 and Nepal 62981?

I'm extremely satisfied with Nepal model. From October, when I got them until today, they haven't disappointed me even once nasmeh. And I walk a lot with them, at least 1x/week. Given that I have wider foot, I feel like they were made just for me. The foot has excellent support in them and ankle holds firmly too. I would choose them again if buying again.

Hi!
Does anyone else have problems with insoles in Planika boots, model Mangart? When walking downhill, the insoles always slide forward for me. I'm trying new insoles, which ones?

During ski touring, boots blistered my sole once. Now I use Pinstep insoles http://www.pinstep.si/ and they are super.

@Mihec

You can glue them permanently or make strips from self-adhesive tape where sticky side is up and down. Put it under the insole and that's it.

I'm interested in Alpina Tibet boots if anyone has experience with them. I would use them for high mountains and some ferratas.

Thanks.

Excellent boot, but after years they fall apart quickly (others told me that), also in winter no problems, dry snow, nothing wet, never cold, no blisters, in winter I had crampons on them too (no problem).

Ljubitelj gora, is there any problem with these boots because they have no front rubber protection?

They have a new model with front rubber protection, otherwise yes, it's a bit of a problem without that protection.

Thanks for the reply Flora and tol! I'll try tol's technique today, if it's not okay then I'll get new insoles.

Hello,
since you have the most experience here I would ask which trekking or hiking boots you recommend for tropics (wet terrain). I want the boot to be waterproof, not too heavy, comfortable and durable. The boot is for walking in jungle with ascents up to 3000m asl. Important for me is stable foot and boot doesn't slip on wet terrain. I have very high instep, foot is rather wide than narrow. I also have issue with heel lift so softer models suit me. I looked at Garmont Dragontail, which are very comfortable and soft, but I read on forum they tear easily and are better for rocky terrain and slip on wet. Merrell are also comfortable for me but have poor choice in women's models (mostly offer waterproof and visually nicer variants, which don't count). Thanks for help and answers.

@Ajalina, Hanwag Drifter XCR mid-cut model is really good boots. Recently I tested them in all weather conditions on a 1000 km long continuous trail. Except for sole wear, no trace of any deficiency. They are soft, light, but still rigid enough to hold the foot and meant for all trails except specifically rocky terrain. Sole is Vibram and grips very well. They have Goretex membrane but are not waterproof, like most hiking boots aren't. After a longer walk on wet terrain they will let water in but, unlike fully leather ones, dry very quickly. Plus they are breathable, your feet will thank you. Choose the right size, use technical socks and foot cream and no blisters despite occasional wetness. Happy hiking

I also have a problem with buying boots. Alpina is out because of bad experiences. I need something good and price is no issue. Mainly for summer tours above 2000m, and via ferratas. Also some lighter winter hikes. I've looked at SALEWA ALP Trainer mid GTX, does anyone have them?? And which models are similar from La Sportiva, Asolo, Garmont? What do you recommend? Thanks and best regards
