Hiking boots

I think Lowa, Scarpa, Meindl, La Sportiva are still the safest choice, because boot quality nowadays is disastrous with halved lifespan (made in China...) compared to ten years ago.

Well even La Sportiva and all other companies aren't what they used to be... Mostly Chinese and all synthetic, doesn't breathe at all, feet cooked... That's my experience.

Hanwag is the best!!!

I also thought Hanwag was flawless, until I saw a lower range shoe from this company completely open above the heel after only two years of use. In general, they say higher class shoes are made more reliably and with higher quality.

La Sportiva Karakorum, Gore-Tex membrane, Vibram sole, excellent in all seasons, exceptional grip, by experience with other brands by far the best choice.

I looked a bit.. But no one mentioned those Salewa I wrote about, because they look great, just don't know about the quality with Salewa?? Last year I bought ferrata gloves from Salewa and was only on Triglav and the seam on the finger came offnasmeh.. those Karakorum from La Sportiva look great, just if they weren't so heavy.. Hanwag sells Annapurna? Any other shop in Slo? Do they have any discounts there? These interest me: Hanwag - Badile GTX? Anyone have them? Anyone else with smart suggestions for boots? And not too heavy, as light as possiblejezik.. Best regards and thanks to everyone for the advice and help..

I have a women's model from Salewa, winter one, so far they serve well, but on snow summer boot grips better than this Salewa one, but I almost always have crampons up or microspikes and no panic. I also looked at weight.

Salewa Alp Trainer Mid probably not many in Slo wear, because the model is not easy to buy (Elan in Begunje, Alpin Action in Trnovo). I noticed them because they are the editors' choice boots of 2011 Backpacker magazine:
http://www.backpacker.com/editors-choice-2011-salewa-alp-trainer-mid-gtx-gear-zone/videos/152
My enthusiasm comes from the following details:
- very light boot (actually it's ankle-high pulled low model Alp Trainer low), Sportiva Karakorum e.g. twice as heavy;
- still well equipped: Kevlar edge, rubber protection, Gore-Tex membrane
- key: sole not stiff but nicely flexible!

Negatives:
- Protective rubber peeled off. Salewa said intensive use, and just glued it back (not e.g. replaced boots). Since use was really very intensive, nothing to say...
- At start squeezed around ankle where thin neoprene cuff, but went away by itself.
- Just returned home after multi-day abuse of boots badly blistered. Salewa gives 100% anti-blister guarantee though. Since no problems before, attribute blisters to heat and maybe not top socks.
Sizes: for ideal fit missing size between 45 and 46, i.e. 45.5. So have slightly too big boots, solved with extra insole.
Summary: despite all great boots for me, especially due to good protection, low weight and flexible sole. If no blister problems (and if nothing better comes to market), this will be my next model in this range of footwear.

After ten years I had to say goodbye to my Alpin boots, which I was really satisfied with. New ones I got a good month ago at Planika and hope they will serve as well as the old ones. But it's true, sometimes I didn't tackle such feats as I started this year...

I personally would buy the most comfortable ones. Which ones those are, you'll have to find out yourself mežikanje

Currently I have Trango S Evo, and I'm not the most satisfied. If I were buying again, I would buy softer ones.. but that's purely personal preference mežikanje

EDIT: oh, regarding quality, no complaints about Trango S Evo, and they've already been through quite a few tours.

hi
I have La Sportiva Trango S Evo GTX and I'm not the most satisfied, everything ok but if the soles didn't hurt after 9 hours walking so crazily that I was almost throwing them off my feet, never blistered. Otherwise ok. Currently buying new ones, brand don't know yet because some new shoes are coming. Don't know where you're from, I'm near Bled and I'll buy them in Koala store because the guy really knows shoes and soles and can advise you well. Think it over well ;-) wish you lots of enjoyment :-)

Kekec, try Lowa Cevedale GTX. They are softer shoes, grip foot well, technical and praised for good ventilation and longer lifespan. I didn't buy them because foot and size didn't fit, so took Scarpa.

Also we two must change boots- URGENT!

Now we have some cheap boots - KILIMANJARO from Hervisa and comfortable for hikes but not best for rocks.

What to buy? Which brand best for quality/price/usability?

We hikers who like to go among rocks but not climbing sense.

Happy for any advice, sales coming maybe good to use some good price now.

Don't you think you're asking a bit too much from this site's visitors, not to say impossible.
