Mountaineering clothes and footwear <=> only what you are satisfied with is good. If you walk comfortably in the boots and feel good in high tech gear, that's it. Regardless of brand and price. Either it fits or not (unfortunately nothing lasts me 13 years )

Hm? Anya, am I complicating? If there are no numbers, in my opinion, that's not my complicating And it doesn't depend on price accessibility or on like or dislike

Aha, nice Anya, nice. Regarding tur and regarding clothes Well, I also prefer to wear what "fits" me. Two t-shirts, two pants, one shell . . . Some stuff is piling up in the closet waiting for better times. Tur accumulates, a lot, really a lot. The season is all year round, and it piles up.

Report: Yesterday I tried: salewa MTN trainer gtx alpina nepal Is it possible that salewa seemed narrow to me? Length was right for me, although it would be almost necessary to try 40.5 which they don't have. In width it felt like the boot "held" me. At the heel I had some space widthwise. Does that mean too narrow boot and I need to look for a wider model?? Somehow still searching for exactly what boot to buy, suitable for Pohorje hikes as well as mountains - up to 2300m. Means also some rocks, but path to them mostly through forest Alpina Nepal didn't impress me on the foot overall. Compared to salewa they felt clumsy on the foot. Please some advice regarding the above....

Alni, best is to try as many different models as possible. Go to Terra, Iglja, Kibuba... and try on everything that seems at least approximately suitable. That way you'll see which model is narrow/wide, which last fits your foot etc. Probably a few models (2-3) will make it to narrower selection. For those take time - in the store have them on foot at least 10 min and walk around. Try walking uphill and downhill too. When walking heel shouldn't lift, nor toes hit the front of the boot. From those take the one with the best feel, even if a few euros more expensive.

Will do. Generally, I'm interested in the SALEWA rapace gtx model or salewa mtn trainer mid gtx: are these suitable boots also for summer use and versatile also for easier terrain (pohorje etc.) or should I look for something else? Which to choose if both models are available at the same price? What's the difference between them anyway?

Support domestic, Alpina and Planika. I've been satisfied with Alpina models for 24 years.

The previous ones I had were Alpina, the current ones are Planika, before that I didn't even seriously hike in hills and other elevations.

The first were very heavy and from brown leather impregnated with beeswax. Handmade, one and only, for tours from January 1st to December 31st. You never forget the first ones (and for the last ones you never know they were the last ) Then in the last almost forty years: Alpina, Planika, Salomon, Adidas, Meindl, Scarpa, Raichle, Asolo, Trezzetta, Hanwag. Some brand multiple times multiple times, some other just multiple times And each one was awesome during use

When my Asolos lost will and refused obedience and since they're not on Slovenian market, I had to choose another brand. Got Hanwag Ferrata Combi GTX, the only boot that doesn't press on my big toe. I have a slightly weird foot. Price makes you faint , but they have one good thing, self-tightening buckles for laces, which is damn useful on descent, foot stays fixed and toes don't hurt, which offsets the price. I wear them all year in any weather. Would still prefer Asolos (emotional attachment ), they were a bit lighter. Safe steps in the mountains.

Slowly despairing over my Alpina boots (1 year moderate use and constantly delaminating soles), so looking at various Planika models a bit. Wondering what the quality of Planika boots is like. Especially interested in your experiences with Mangart and Anapurna models. LP
