Garmont Arizona GTX is a super boot for winter,, because it's stiff,, fits great with classic crampons. Less recommended for summer.

I'm thinking of taking them to Alpina to replace the sole on my mountaineering boots, replacement price is around 40 euros. Has anyone had the sole replaced and how satisfied were they with the repair.

I'm interested in your advice and suggestions regarding winter boots.
It's important that the boot doesn't soak through and is warm. Preferably in the lighter mountaineering boots category.
For summer Scarpa Kailash suits me much better than La Sportiva Trango Evo.

Thanks in advance.

I'm interested in Alpina Trenta Lady boots. I tried them on in the shop and the feel is divine. Now I'm wondering if they are also suitable for rain, snow or water (membrane promises it), but I don't know how they hold up in practice. I'd like boots for both winter and summer, at a normal price. Now I have much pricier ones, but very clumsy, so looking for softer ones and Trenta Lady caught my eye. Experiences?

Depends what you'll do with them in winter. Basically not winter boots. Now - for mid-mountains or Debelo peč these will do, for more you'll want specialized. On waterproofing, visually should hold ok, if regularly impregnated and gaiters in snow. Of course all-year boots are compromise, then decide what for.

Yes, I know it's more of a compromise... Would have them mainly for summer, occasionally or exceptionally for winter. In principle as little as possible on snow with them, sometimes though. Don't want them to fall apart first time nasmeh How do they do in dry? Good or is Alpina brand OK for hiking boots?

Yeah, boots, a chapter unto themselves, ... the best experiences are one's own experiences, believe @bananareplika ... I've been hiking for 5 years and this year got my 5th boots, ...

My Alpina boots (summer) served great... about 4 years they lasted - true, at the end they were already totally ragged... Bought new ones for big money from renowned firms, but I had a bunch of problems nasmeh So Alpina can be totally OK too (my opinion) - especially if you really only occasionally go a bit on snow.

First ALPINA boots I got 35 years ago and with them the same day to Triglav (youth is madness, don't recommend). From Vrata to Savica without a single blister! Since then for over 1000m only Alpina. There are different models though and you need to find the right ones.
As for waterproofing, spray them well right when you bring them home and re-spray regularly after every wet trip.

I know a certain gentleman who has Alpina gojzarje and has been using them for over 30 years. Today's Alpina gojzarje are though "weak", but for this price with discount it's worth getting them, because elsewhere they all cost around 150-200-300 euros.

Difference between back then and now is actually great. Although this about 30 years of use is irrelevant, because:

a: uses them at most twice a year on nearby hill

b: he imposed on you this permanent 30-year use

c: you imposed this on us as usual (in the sense - I know one who has been using the same condom for 30 years and still has the original packaging)

Hello,

I too had Alpina Tibet boots, which served well for a short time, after about half a year of use they stretched so much in width and length that my foot was dancing lengthwise and crosswise. I solved the problem by wearing three socks, but lo and behold, they "grew" again. When I finally realized 5 pairs of socks are needed, I just replaced them with new ones. I know I didn't buy too big, as about half year (or one more month) they were perfectly OK in width and length.

Maybe they got infected with some growth hormone, because in other boots I didn't notice growing, and my foot didn't shrink either.

Impossible is possible.nasmeh

Be nice to me, Saša

What's the rule when buying hiking boots? That boots are one size larger? Somewhere at the beginning I read that it's good when you push toes fully forward, that at heel up to one cm "space".

Well, I mainly think we should get rid of the illusion that boots must be "ideal" and "like poured". Simply cursing boots is more or less normal and if after some longer trip a blister appears, no need to rush for others right away. In a year or two more or less every boot can be broken in to usable degree, ideal of course never will be.
As for Alpina and that they were "better before" - I had one pair of theirs once 15 years ago and must say very bad experiences. Sole own-made gave almost no grip, textile soaked at first dew. Now I have one pair winter Tetons and they are among those I haven't fully befriended yet, especially on longer tours. True I don't use them a lot. But sole works ok, hold water, so as long as they don't start falling apart, no thought of new ones.
I swear by Planika though. Now have Anapurna and serve fine. These I also cursed at beginning, but think after two seasons I broke them in solidly and feel good in them (well, some sore achilles tendon still happens, but nothing serious), and that from Sabotin to Dolomites. Waterproofness almost ideal, which are all my experiences with Planika boots (previous lasted me some 8 years, even at end didn't leak. Then changed when sole started cracking).
Of course, everyone has own experiences ...
