I'm also very satisfied with Asolo boots. Now using the third pair of Asolo Stynger GTX. They are really light and soft boots, perfect for the easy paths I visit. If by chance I go a floor higher, among rocks, no problem, they handle it too. Pohodnica56 I checked a bit where to get Asolo boots. Here they might have them at Pohodnik store, at least their website says so. Obviously I'm also getting emotional attachment to these boots Asolo are the best

Ajda, I'm the happiest hiker right now . Yesterday the devil drove me through all web portals for Asolos. I found them at Pohodnik and since I didn't leave the sweltering capital today, I went to BTC and got them. Although Hanwag serves me well, they are a bit heavier, but Asolo are Asolo. Can't wait to wear them. I'll fly along the ridges

@Ajda, these aren't just little shoes, they're real salon shoes, for the gentler sex at least I feel that way in them. They'll probably have them in stock for a while, apparently the new supplier is more reliable than the previous. @lokipoki, surely someone mentioned them already, scroll back a bit.

Hello, I've decided to buy hiking boots for ascents up to 2000m and above, I've already browsed the forum a bit and read, I'm wondering if anyone here has tried the AKU brand? Specifically interested in model: ZENITH II GTX S10. Thanks in advance for help Best regards

Haven't tried them yet today I tried Planika models nanos and rogla, no more mangart AVS in stock- the model I was looking for- arranged for next week if they can still get them, the store was right next to alpine who have 40% discount, but I saw here on forum users had problems with them- they wore out quickly- liked Tibet with rubber best. Monday I'll try AKU Zenith. Also curious about Planika shoes and the AIR-TEX membrane- as good as GORE-TEX? Regards

Seems to me that 100 hours even of such torture on rocks is still too little for some proper mountain boots to amortize. I've had many types and brands of mountain boots, even alpine ones, but for alpine ones except that they're too heavy and have bad Vibram that likes to peel off I can't say anything positive, except they always have some discount. And local patriotism doesn't help me at all when I'm high in the mountains and the sole peels off or fog starts and soles slip like on ice. Everyone has their favorite brand that fits their foot, but you need to try several different brands to judge which are the better boots for your needs. That's my subjective opinion, and even if I root for Asolo, which so far even after long use in all conditions are the only ones keeping water out and most comfortable to wear.

True, everyone has different gait, foot shape and it's hard to find a boot that suits you. But still I can't help but agree with Igor who says Meindl are the law. I have my third pair, wear them from day one like slippers. Of course I don't claim other brands are less quality, just my experiences are like that.

On Friday to Peca with new Asolo boots, which I marked a few posts back as the best for me, yesterday to Dobrač. No blisters, which I've really never gotten, no pains, simply super. I tried all brands at all sellers, to my great regret only in the Asolo boot do my big toes have enough space, maybe because they're a bit more "pointed" , like the feet too . Every foot is different and not every boot suits it. Price around 180€ doesn't seem too exaggerated to me. It's not said that 250€ is the measure for boots. My hiking companion bought Alpina for only 50€, they were discounted and served her well, on her paths, true not exactly high-mountain, but she was satisfied with them.

About a year ago I bought Alpina trekking boots at Spar on sale for 60 euros. I use them mainly for walking on softer terrains (Pohorje), and also for climbing via ferratas, since they are quite light and give a secure feeling when climbing on rock. I'm very satisfied with them and they are more than worth every cent. For about three years I've also been using Maindl boots for demanding mountaineering tours. They've definitely exceeded the above-mentioned 100 hours of intensive walking, but apart from a bit torn rubber on the front part of the boot and somewhat worn sole, no other flaws are noticeable yet. So more than satisfied, which I also expected given the quite high price back then (220 eur).

Nice greeting to everyone on the forum. I really like Boreal trekking boots model Hurricane Verde. Would these boots be suitable for ascent to Stol, Roblek, Mojstrovka and similar peaks? I would use them for hiking in summer to higher peaks. In winter for shorter trips to Roblek, Dobrča... lp roman http://www.e-boreal.com/ing/comienzo.htm

If you really plan to stay only on such ascents (summer ones, of course!), then there shouldn't be problems. It's a really light boot though, not technical and I have some doubts about waterproofness.

I had a similar model to the one you're looking at but from another manufacturer: http://www.promontana.si/spletna-trgovina/izdelek/355/tibet_pro_gtx_celvji/ Leather thickness is about the same. - suitable for higher peaks in summer. The only problem is that due to the leather thickness the foot sweats a bit more - suitable for winter trips too, but you must reckon that with more southern snow it might get wet inside. - used regular 12-point crampons on winter trips, no problem

bmare, not sure if Boreal Hurricane Verde model is leather. In the shop they said they tested it at the fair and it's very waterproof. Hope it's true. Price 158 euros not exactly cheap. When they get it I'll try it and decide but recommend some more opinion. lp

Waterproof 2.6 mm nubuck leather. Most important when buying before anything else is how the shoe fits your foot. They recommend buying the shoes in the afternoon, when the foot is already a bit tired. When you go to the store, take thicker socks with you. Wear the shoes for at least 5 minutes, better even longer. Walk around the store in them (even if some salesman looks at you strangely ) and when you conclude that it really is what you're looking for, buy them. Due to discomfort (improper purchase) you can have big problems on the trip (blisters, tightness.... ).
