No need to shout... I tried Urano some time ago, they are made excellently, no doubt about the quality, the only thing to know is that they have a very wide toe box. My foot, not exactly narrow, had too much space inside at first.

Hope the one you're buying for tries them first before buying!

Definitely recommended procedure. I still don't know for myself if they fit me if I don't try them on first, let alone buying them for someone else.

I recommend Planika model Jalovec, which has a wider toe box; who has a narrower foot, then model Brana

This year I bought Fitwell Plutone. Nostalgically I wanted leather stitched mountain boots. Bought them in EVT store in Idrija. I have size around 43 so I buy mountain boots from 44 up. From Italy they ordered just for me sizes 44, 44.5 and 45 so I could try all and finally decided for 44.5. Really wide toe box although for my wide feet (in Alpina Peak my feet are all tingling from tightness) barely enough. Otherwise boots are super, though compared to modern ones maybe a bit stiff, now that they are well broken in not so much anymore. Didn't get wet!!!! despite hours of trudging, but I scraped the leather nicely on rocks and scree so they are much lighter than when bought Definitely can only recommend Fitwell - and EVT store too!

I'm totally desperate because I can't find mountaineering boots for my huge foot I wear normal shoes size 49. Lately I was totally thrilled and went to Alpina, where they have the Nepal model size 49.5, but my toes reached right to the end, so half a size was missing . They no longer make them on order. Does anyone have info where I could get mountaineering boots e.g. size 50? I found some offers abroad, but not what I want, i.e. all-year mountaineering boots. I found only either those for the Himalaya or those for Rožnik

Ask at Planika Turnišče d.o.o., maybe they do custom-made there, quality is also top level as they work for top firms not only under their name, their new collection already looks quite nice. Try, they say it's no sin

A few years ago I learned there's a master Jaka in Žiri who makes mountain boots. Maybe some hribi.net user knows who it is, I can ask too.

Isn't there around Kranj some master who long repaired military footwear, then went on his own? It was on TV sometime in autumn, does anyone know more about it?

Hello! For winter footwear I wear Alpina Teton. For spring, summer, I plan to buy something else, as the boot is too warm and too robust for summer. I'd like a higher-high boot, no way a low hiking boot, as those don't suit me. Boots will be exclusively for spring-summer. What do you wear, which boots don't you trust etc.? Boots I DON'T buy just for one season. Thanks for suggestions and best regards. Marko

I agree (there's already a new model out with some other name)... Extremely "safe" boot for the ankle and lower limbs in general, lightweight with excellent grip and stability. When the sole wears out, it can be replaced without much trouble at the right shoemaker. P.S: Let me tell you, it took me quite some time to "break in" these boots and I got quite a few blisters. Now that they're broken in, no more such problems.
