Quite possible yeah. But Trango Alp are a class better. Popular with GV guys. Otherwise I swore by Ganda Guide but it disappointed me completely. Three pairs gone in one year. Still swear by LS, regardless of the unfortunate incident. But EVO S are really top. No problem even for routes in them. For approaches I decided on Mammut. The interior "dies" before the rubber around

I also had quite some issues with LS Trango S at the beginning with the soles - boots are quite stiff, soles almost "burned" into me. The sole on the boot wears out quite quickly too, so for multi-year use they're not in my opinion... But for climbing (scrambling) they're excellent, fully agree with Juš.

That's true too jure1977, similar with me... Maybe some regular portal readers remember that I initially criticized them a bit mainly because of that. Still, first impression doesn't always give the final answer, sometimes one has to "eat one's words" and change opinion, which I find completely human. The situation improves over time, say one wears more suitable socks (maybe even changes them during the tour), learns how tight to lace... As I say, initially possible some little issue, but all that is outweighed by really top properties on rock and the extremely good Vibram sole (unlike slippery Chinese "Vibrams", this one holds even in the most delicate damp autumn weather, and even when fully worn out). Plus at least for me no more painful hips and knees, which happened before I got to LS brand and these and some other of their boots. Not to mention that in these boots my ankle never "rolled" once. How boots protect the mountaineer from possible ankle sprain is a big factor in choice for me

Yes, fully agree. And also with that, no skimping on boots... Ankles are too precious.

Trango S, excellent boots, attaching a couple of pics ... they did about 250 thousand up and the same down in four years ... it's true they're a bit heavy for flat terrain, but they protect the foot, especially the ankles, I have a problem with twisting ankles, next I'll buy Trango Alp GTX ...

Hello! I'm deciding on buying hiking boots, and I've ended up in a dilemma. At home I already have some classic gojzars (Planika), which are a bit too stiff for less demanding hikes... Does anyone have experience with this shoe http://www.alpinashop.si/artikel/joy_mid_-_62331/62331 or recommends something else?

Something like what you're looking for are Merrell hiking footwear, stiff enough for rock, soft enough for mid-mountain, sole indestructible Vibram, wouldn't trade for any other brand, been using since they hit the market! This is my personal opinion, you decide your own way, market has choice of brands galore!! PS:Most Merrell types: Intersport, Tomas-sport, Hervis! LP

I'll answer you partially. I tried that shoe from your link in the store. I didn't decide for it, because it seemed too stiff for the purpose I was looking for. Initially, I bought this one on sale (40%) http://www.alpinasports.com/product/clide_mid_w/161 But after a few months it delaminated at the flex point. And that sole was quite stiff too. I complained twice and the company unsuccessfully fixed the defect. I was quite happy when I got a credit note (I didn't like that shoe much). Then with that money (credit) I got 2 pairs of boots and one pair was this http://www.alpinasports.com/product/diamond/249 It's a shoe suited for the purpose I wanted. Easy terrain (grass, forest) and use for everyday chores (very satisfied). Otherwise I always use at least three pairs of different boots for.. - winter conditions (have attachments for crampons) - summer high mountains - vias ferratas Don't rush the purchase and think well and get boots that will serve you well and you'll feel good in them!!! Choice of boots is very large. lp

Those low Alpine boots are all (that I've seen) Made in China, which for me personally is reason to avoid - they usually don't last more than one or two seasons of occasional use. Typical for Chinese is that due to thin materials it cracks at the flex and a hole forms, even before seams or glue give way somewhere

I know the choice is huge... I'll definitely take time with the purchase. Thanks for the help!

Does anyone have LA SPORTIVA Omega GTX? They're on sale at Hervis now, but need to be ordered online.

This year I bought Millet Sikkim GTX Lady gojzars. I wore them a few times on easy hikes, now I notice rubber coming off the front. Very disappointed. Now I'm thinking about Alpina Tibet, Merrell or Planika's, because I'm reading positive experiences.

Petra5, I would take the boots back. I bought the same ones myself late last year in Iglu, and I specifically asked if I can bring them back if anything is wrong. The salesman said they have a 1-year warranty and if anything like that happens, they'll sort it out.

Millet was a replacement for Planika for me, they suit me, but a couple of times last year down the scree behind Cmir and the soles wore out on me, oh why? Good shoe, but it has to fit your foot, every shoe has its own end eventually. Anyway, they wear out.
