Most gear I buy on sale when prices are down even 50%. This way I've saved at least two grand on mountain stuff, let everyone decide themselves under what conditions to buy. That you can't get quality stuff on sale is of course bullshit. Oh, Garmont I won't take anymore even if they pay me

This is a Czech boot. The owner asked me for a piece of wire at Mlinarsko sedlo. Unfortunately, I didn't have it

@gorolazka, wrap half a meter or more of good camouflage tape with mesh around a stick or thermos, and you'll always have it with you.

The boot is the same quality in regular sale or seasonal discount. I waited for the same pair for the price to drop, and it's not true that such boots are lower quality. In this case, "little money, little music" doesn't hold.

Brand or price up or down, if the boot rubs you, it's not for use! In the JLA they used to say, if a soldier's boot rubs him, he's disabled. I don't swear by any brand, but by those boots with which I can walk all day. I had an experience with a good brand too, advertised the boots twice because the front came off, got two new pairs, third time the shop returned the money, saying you won't take the third pair anyway. Anyway, if already in the shop the feel isn't the best, don't buy them even if they recommend them, they're on sale, and from a "good brand". Definitely can't walk in the same boots in all seasons, but need several. Admire those who manage it.

Scarpa has never disappointed me, neither in fit, even less in the probably best sole among mountain boot brands. The only bad thing is that Scarpa is almost no longer available here, why?

Maybe because the boot lasts long compared to other brands that wear out quite quickly; moderate activity - no scree - La Sportiva Trango Trek - after one year the material already nicely falls apart.

Not only boots, electronics today is more crap. At home, the Sony TV still works nicely after 14 years, a new quality LCD lasts if lucky 8-10 years. Mother firms say that if they made electronics for 20 years, they'd be buried and reburied themselves. E.g., Marantz power amp that produces some quality sound costs 1800 eur. Nowadays even new Porsche Cayennes for 100k stay on roads because of too many electronic components that every new car has. Old is law if not too many miles.

Hello I bought Meindl hiking boots and now I'm wondering if they need protection with some spray before use? Lp

I hardly believe any serious company would sell boots not impregnated from the factory. Later the protection needs renewing, that's clear.

First I spray them with impregnating spray. After each trip I clean them and always impregnate when dry. Older ones I start rubbing with dubbin. lp

Please provide expert advice. My wife has a very small foot and it's very hard to get good mountaineering boots for high mountains. She needs size 36, boots in that size are hard to get in stores. They usually send the wife to the kids' department for sizes; kids' boots are not as high-quality as real mountaineering boots. Please, people who wear size 36, tell us where size 36 boots could be bought. Which quality brands and manufacturers offer small sizes? best regards
