The world is really changing. In the old good times, when you couldn't get any other boots than hard leather ones that the feet had to get used to, I hiked three days in Kamniks, two of them with bloody heels. In the morning putting on was annoying, walked on eggshells for ten minutes too, then it all settles. So no panic. Even on long hikes a blister is nothing special. Real problems start somewhere between sprain and break

Yeah yeah no problem at all, actually no need for such questions, but I asked anyway. Didn't know it'd turn into such a debate. Otherwise I'll keep hiking as before, hope foot adapts to boots or whatever. If it's just such blister as now no problem, if worse on longer hikes hope it'll be cool. Thanks all for help and advice.

You left me without answer. Still don't know what's with LOWA Vantage GTX model. "Wondering if anyone has experience with LOWA Vantage II mid GTX boots. I have good heavy boots (LaSportiva), need lighter ones for shorter and easier daily hikes. Girlfriend has similar, walks a ton in them for three years and still usable. Practically indestructible! Thanks in advance for answer! http://www.onlineshoes.com/mens-lowa-vantage-gtx-mid-anthracite-yellow-p_id382026 Here's the first webpage I found, pasted just so you see the model."

For walking on hilly terrain probably good, but on first scree seams will go; if boots wet, even sooner.

@maks57, both previous ones told you what they think of the chosen model. It also bothered me that there is no Vibram on the sole. A few days ago I replaced old boots with the same model. Lowa Renegade GTX® Mid WS. I wear them on easier hikes and avoid direct descent on scree. Descent on scree is pleasant, but for lighter hiking boots "poison".

Comfortable, quality leather very sought after for years are Scarpa Ladakh cca 200€. Very similar copy of them is made by Fitwell 160€ and it sells them well, unlike overpriced Lowa. Shops K2, Annapurna, Bokal sport In my opinion Mojito Plus GTX would be more than enough for 150€ in Annapurna.

@viharnik, well, for the boots I paid €179.00 (Intersport) and I think I didn't overpay them. These are also made of quality leather.

That's a fair price, 230€ is absolutely too much for that class of boot.

Irina, with Renegade you gotta wear gloves. Mine popped seams on the third trip , but all were a bit longer (over 10h). Now they're only good for mushrooms.

I bought Lowa Cevedale Gtx also in Intersport from 300 to 18p. Otherwise, they'll probably be only for winter; I haven't tested them yet, but regarding how much I checked the offers, it was a good buy, and also according to user responses, Lowa boots are supposed to be very good. They were a bit cheaper than Lasportive Nepal, which is a nicer boot to me but heavy as hell. I don't yet have the need to spend 250eur+ on boots since I'm not doing (yet) serious alpinistic winter tours.

@palček plezalček, warranty claim? After 3 trips something like that just shouldn't happen.

I argued with Promontana quite a while, but they excused that Lowa doesn't approve. Since other things were more important, after a long time I stopped emailing them; they've lost quite some customers since then. Well, they say everything comes back....

Well, they can't blame Lowa much, there are also consumer protection laws. It's true though that if you dive into it you need quite some willpower and nerves... they can take up to 45 days for resolving the warranty claim

Does Lowa not approve the warranty claim? About 8 years ago I returned a pair that delaminated in front after the second or rather the first trip. They didn't give me a third pair, but refunded the money. It looks like I got a bad batch.

Drago, my previous Lowa boots were even less robust than these, but I had them on all scree slopes or otherwise unpleasant terrain and they lasted just under a decade and a half. These went straight to the dogs. Whether Lowa honors the warranty or not, I stopped asking, because from Promontana I couldn't get an official letter and warranty denial from Lowa. For me the thing with Promontana is over. With Lowa probably not

@palček plezalček file a claim, hope you have a receipt, I wore out two (same model) Salomons in half a year, never again, now only La Sportiva (I have low and high).

@viharnik, the mentioned model costs 189.99 euros both at Intersport and Hervis. I fell in love with LOWA thanks to my friend who uses it non-stop for three seasons already (very similar model to Avantage) and they haven't loosened or peeled off or torn at a single spot. That's a reference for me I simply can't ignore.
