Maybe someone knows a shop in Italy (Tarvisio - Udine)?
Once it was much more pleasant than here.
I remember a shop opposite the AlpeAdria center, before Udine.
Does anyone else buy there, or does it pay off?

Heinz, maybe something in the shop: ALPSTATION, Trbiž, via Roma 56
(that's from Nives Meroi and Romano Benet = Montura)

Boots simply have to fit your foot so that the very first feeling is already right. You feel right away if it fits your foot or not, to put it plainly. Though you only learn some features on the hike. Shouldn't be too small, nor too big, in winter don't forget that some wear two socks, or at least thicker boiled wool ones. I have Kayland Vertigo boots, excellent summer boot for narrow foot, while contact is great for wider foot. Winter ones do great for climbing and mountain hiking. We don't all have the same feet, so try several models, even then it can be tricky...

A beginner question: what are the main differences between summer and winter mountaineering boots? I'm interested in models like La Sportiva Nepal or Karakorum. Can I use such mountaineering boots mainly for summer high-mountain ascents and via ferratas? Thanks for the info!

Summer mountaineering boots are softer (sole) than winter ones, have less (or no) insulation, are lighter, cooler, breathable... They're for summer. Also suitable for easier winter hikes, if your feet don't get cold easily.

Heinz Vidussi in Čedadi, in the center opposite Hotel Roma across the street in the basement premises, have everything for mountains and alpinism. In the AlpeAdria framework there used to be a shop Alpisport or something similar, later they moved to Tolmezzo, I haven't found it yet, I bought some stuff there before, but now in the EU they no longer refund tax, so the price is about the same.
abece, check some catalog, say from Igluja, and you'll quickly see the differences as every boot has a detailed description.

Modrej, there are quite a few Trango models. I specifically have summer Trango Trek Micro GTX, winter Trango Prime and both perform great for me. Of course La Sportiva generally fits my foot like a glove..., so not sure it will for you too. I know some who use Trango S you're interested in, but they wear them mostly in summer, not specifically winter model, but can climb some stuff in them, like with my summer model. Decision is each individual's what to buy and what fits.

Yes, that's true, Trango S GTX is a 3-season boot. I'm more interested in how that FLEX ankle performs on this boot (not too flexible), and how it goes on scree with it.

Anyone have experience with the following boot?

I don't have, but the boot is surely quality.

In general, Garmont boots aren't God knows what. They probably just diligently copy from the other elite and mass-produce. Users complain more than they praise. Yesterday there was a chat with a hiker on Lubnik who hikes a lot and already noticed a torn seam on the new boot. Later they exchanged it at Igluju for a new one. She says it'll be good for the trash heap to wear out.
I still swear by no. 1 among boots: Scarpa and La Sportiva, Fitwell, Asolo - top models. With Scarpa I'm now wearing light leather boots (for summer, winter for snowshoes) already for the tenth year. Well, now despite Gore-Tex membrane and impregnation they let moisture in when wet. They deserve a respectful retirement. Lp

Mainly it's overpriced. Garmont has good hiking XCR Gore-Tex. And for approaches, Dragontail, Sticky Cat, Nagevi... I also swear by La Sportiva, they are really top-notch boots, comfortable, somewhat heavier, but once you get used to them... I wouldn't trade for others. Above all I like that even on the first tour I didn't get blisters or other skin injuries. Worth every cent.

Hello! This season I'm using Garmont boots, and so far I'm thrilled with them. Climbed and hiked twenty-one tours in Julian Alps, Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Košuta, and Karawanks. Boots not torn yet, Gore-Tex does its job well. So they should last at least three seasons. And happy New Year to you.

Yes, these boots... I also have trouble finding the right boots. Old ones fell apart.. I already bought new ones, but they are too narrow for me... I like leather both inside and outside.
A bit forced, I bought Garmont Sitko, which is a very comfortable boot, a few tours completely without blisters, which never happened to me before... not exactly for winter hikes, for less demanding tours they're OK. They have Gore-Tex membrane, leather ones were not available.
How long they will last, I can only guess.
Safe step to all...

Hi, I also bought new winter boots ZAMBERLAN (Italian) in November. Didn't know the brand before, was looking for slightly narrower boots, as I have a narrow foot. So far I've done some tours with them and no blisters. They are for semi-automatic crampons. I hope they will serve me long and well.

Marko1, maybe you can write which model they are.
Maybe I'll decide for the purchase of winter or combined - i.e. a bit heavier.
Thanks.
