Nice weather lured me to Javorca. I parked below Bela peč and decided to make a loop via Tirske peči. There was little snow, so walking was pleasant. But, oh no, halfway to the monument I was surprised by a windthrow. From Malinski vrh all the way to the end of the clearing above the monument, the path is impassable. The wind had felled trees here over a wide strip. Below the walls, the path is passable again. Only at one spot a bit of gymnastics is needed. The gully is also passable, only the tools left in the car would have been useful. Since I didn't feel like going back, I used a stone as a tool, with which I chipped ice off the pegs, pitons and cable. From Lopna peč I continued right, because left there were again some fallen trees and I assumed it would be better here. But it was anything but that. Towards Zgornja lopa the path is completely impassable. Only from Zgornja lopa to Konjski vrh can you walk the path again. From Konjski vrh I descended through Vodna loka to the south side of Medvedjak and there too I had trouble getting through the fallen trees. The amount of fallen wood is in thousands of cubic meters.
In these conditions I think the Tirske are most nicely passable from below along the road and then up the ridge through the Erotic forest, then up the gully and further left via Šteng and Gamsji vrt to Konjski vrh. I hope the owners will manage to repair the damage and it will be possible to walk the other paths again sometime.
The continuation of the path towards Javorca from the clearing below Medvedjak onwards seemed like a real walk compared to what I had walked. At the bivouac I enjoyed for a long time and watched the birds pecking at sunflowers in the feeder. Then followed a quick descent to the car, as my wife called me, who had finished skiing. On the drive down to the valley we had a lot of nice things to tell each other again.

Janez, how is the path from Ljubno towards Mozirska koča?

Nino, that's partly on this path, namely half the path between Bela peč and the NOB monument. I don't know how it is further towards Ljubno. From Tirske it looks OK to me. Of course appearance can be deceiving. But the mentioned section of the path can be nicely bypassed below along the road.

Last weekend some of us went on a trip around Golte, more precisely Požganija and we had a really good time. Conditions were completely spring-like, nothing like winter. Everywhere you can see blooming snowdrops and even crocuses. Clear weather offered us wonderful views. Since most were on this path for the first time, they were pleasantly surprised how much beauty Golte hides. Too bad we didn't have more time for more adventures. New snow will dress all this for new experiences.

Yesterday on Golte a winter fairy tale. To start, I barely shoveled out the car, so much new snow had fallen. I went up past Dveh možic (dinosaur heads), where a chamois alerted me with snorting. Although I was standing just a few meters below the dinosaur head on which it stood, I didn't see it. I went around it, but it withdrew higher. A little below Javorca a ptarmigan startled me, which rose from a snow hole just a meter in front of me. It let itself be observed for a while, then flew away with two others. At the bivouac I lit a fire and enjoyed the views. All the time birds kept me company, pecking at sunflowers in the feeder. On the way back from Prepasana peč on the cliffs below Javorca I watched two chamois for a long time. Trudging through deep fresh snow, animals that let themselves be watched, wonderful weather and beautiful views satisfied my hungry soul and body for another day. Yes, the beauties of Golte always surprise me anew.

On Friday my colleagues called me if we'd go romp around in the new snow? And we went on Saturday. They picked me up in the morning and we were already at the parking lot in Pruh. At the last cleared parking we had to shovel new snow again. We went up past the dinosaur, over Koprivna peč, past the hunting observatory, over Verbučeva planina and from there by road to Javorca. We took turns breaking trail since there was really loads of snow. Since the sun couldn't break through the clouds we lit a fire at the bivouac and had a proper merry time. nasmeh

Then we descended to Mozirska koča and stopped at Filip's for a drink. After the cheerful hangout in the hut we weren't ready to head home yet so we hopped over Stari stanovi to Žlajfer. There was a party with free venison goulash, we barely got a seat. Thirst quenched mežikanje

and stuffed we descended past the hotel and at Alpski vrt took the adrenaline variant to the car. Lots of laughs and more. velik nasmeh

Despite foggy weather we had a blast. Guys, thanks for the nice company.
Attached some pics from Sunday and yesterday's solo visit to Javorca. Yesterday loads of new snow fell again perfect for trailbreaking.

Janez, you'll have to come to Golte and Javorca in winter too and taste the contents of the barrel that visitors also nicely stock. nasmeh

Alenka, since I have a bird feeder at the bivouac, the alpine accentors pamper me every winter visit while gobbling sunflowers. They come almost within arm's reach. Sometimes a green woodpecker flies in too. If you want to see this bird for sure, come to Javorca now when there's lots of snow. Then, when the slopes of Javorca melt, they're hardly close anymore because there's plenty of food in nature.
The weather last week lured me up three times. Once from home, twice from Planinska raven. On the marked trail there's usually a good track made by local runners. Of course, I broke trail well on my paths that weren't tracked yet. Each time it was differently nice.
