Because of avalanche danger we didn't dare go higher, we went to Kamnik Peak via direct route. Quite a few people but no crowd. They looked at me strangely because besides crampons I had ice axe on backpack (first time here, didn't know what to expect) - one guy said - look at this one as if going to Mount Everest

Today 23.1.2021 hardest part of path over Hude konce was crossing Potok which is now very raging. Snow starts at 1000m asl, slippery to ridge. On ridge sinks about a foot deep. At Kamnik Peak midday 1cm fresh snow, rained before. Descended to Županje njive and road to car.

Today a quick conditioning hike from the bridge along Roža to Kamniški vrh. The path alternates between dry ground and “live ice”. I skipped the return over Bosova šija as I figured it was even more frozen than the path along Roža, so I returned the same way. At some spots, caution is really necessary, crampons in the pack can come in handy.

Today did a loop. Up to see Korošaki waterfalls, over Pl. Osredek and ridge path over Planjava to the summit. Sun today only above 900-1000m. No need for crampons up. Ca. 10cm new snow provided good grip.
At the summit: sun, warm, wonderful and finally... few people
Descent on the right ridge was slippery, so I put on crampons and back into the clouds.
Super day on Kamnik today!
