Kekec's Homestead

Print

Yesterday my wife and I took the kids to see Kekec's Homestead. The kids were clearly very excited. But when we arrived at the homestead, the excitement vanished in an instant, as the owner-caretaker unfriendlily dismissed us, saying that people come there to rest and want peace (it was 11:30). So the two families left with long noses. That means only guests who stay overnight there are welcome, the others are not. I know some of you won't agree with me, because there's always someone who disagrees.

sandij74 we experienced the same last year. At the homestead the owner warned us that we had come to private property, where only their guests should be. We were directed there at the tourist info point in Trenta, saying it's worth checking out. When we explained that to her, she agreed and said there are quite a few such cases. So I feel that communication creaks there. But it's all strange, since this homestead is quite well advertised and marked in those areas. Obviously one needs to really announce in advance and reserve a stay. What a pity, because otherwise it's really nice and quiet. But we got into quite a pleasant chat with the owner afterwards. Of course we were also disappointed because of this event. LP

Kekec's homestead - never again! That's also our experience from three years ago. I'm sorry only for the disappointed kids, when the owner literally chased us away, telling us to go already once because we disturb their (!) guests. After paid drinks, of course. Later we heard they do special tourism there. Anyway Kekec's homestead is not meant for kids, but for adult kekcs. It should be published somewhere, on their sign by the road for example.

Seems we misinterpreted the offer, because everyone subconsciously associates Kekec with children. They chose an inappropriate name, now don't want to change it, consequence is the bad mood of the staff which transfers to visitors with children.
In the web offer they actually have only "peacefulness", no children's offer with Bedanc is even mentioned anywhere, pity. Too often we go somewhere on impulse, a few clicks dispel doubt:

KEKČEVA HOMESTEAD IN TRENTA
Unrepeatable fairytale
Far from the mad world, almost at the source of the emerald beauty Soča right under Triglav eyes, hides another Trenta jewel – Kekčeva homestead. As if at the end of the world, in the embrace of silence broken only by the rustle of wind and the murmur of the lively river which for millennia creates this alpine valley remote from the masses.
Here are friendly mornings at home, fairytale beautiful views and unforgettable experiences - winds in the embrace of our highest mountains. When warm sun smiles from above Planja chasing morning mists, it's time for a walk through dark green or autumn colorful forests, a refreshing step into a cold pool, a real big mountain tour or a jump on a bike, as and as long as we like.
And there are pleasant evenings, when it smells of goodies from the bread oven and the memory of the day spent and the magic of the moment intertwine, as if time had stopped. Then we plunge back into a new world, the world of sweet dreams that we will never forget.
Welcome to Kekčeva homestead, where you will feel like at home!

Yes, they have Kekec sticks. Nothing else, as predecessors write.
I also went myself to ask what they should offer, but have enough peace already at home. With these things they supposedly earn, to me all together a bit so; for little walk across small pool and puff from bread oven. People are becoming bigger fools always.
I remember Kekec who yelled and wasn't in silence, laughed and such stuff, not puffing from bread oven.

Yes people, nobody understood the essence of what the homestead offers?
Behind is a plantation. The name "Amsterdam in Trenta" is just unfulfilled by politicians who also go there. Van der Lastnica is always high. Kids are normally not invited. Puff-puff-pass is the motto. Kekec appears to you occasionally... velik nasmehvelik nasmeh

We too last year, when returning from the Zapotok highland, wanted to visit Kekec's Homestead. We didn't have small kids with us who would disturb the mountain peace, yet we were rejected right at the start, saying they have a wedding and we're not welcome. So we turned around with long noses and left.

Hello dear fellow hikers,

while reading your impressions I'm wondering if I'm the illiterate one or you are. I looked at this page about Kekec's Homestead, but nowhere did I see that they animate children there. As far as I understand this and as much as I could see with my own eyes, it's just ordinary apartments with catering. I hope we're talking about this one: http://www.kekceva-domacija.si/kekec.php?p=1? Something else is Kekec's Land on the other side of Vršič pass. I'm talking about this: http://www.kranjska-gora.si/Aktivnosti/Poletne-dogodivscine-za-otroke/Kekceva-dezela. If you geographically missed the location, that's probably not the owners' problem. Judging by the comments there are many of you who want to bring your children there for animation, so maybe the owner needs to be understood too. I also came there... just for lunch and no one chased me home. But during lunch I noticed many people of your caliber who think they've come to an open-air museum. (You probably wouldn't feel comfortable if people walked around you and your table during lunch taking pictures everywhere). Some even came just for the toilet... and yes, the owner was openly unhappy (believe me if I were the owner I'd be annoyed by such 'guests' too). The owner told me herself she's constantly dealing with such guests... and there's an outdoor pool too. Think how you'd feel soaking in the pool with noisy 'guests' walking around you in groups. Anyway, instead of turning up your noses at unfriendliness next time sit at the table order some excellent homemade food and drinks at very reasonable prices and eat and chat peacefully with the owners - they don't bite. Anyway this is not a typical village inn where loud talking over each other is normal... it's just apartments with what you call 'special and high-class' guests nearby. And by the way: until recently I was unemployed, ordinary mortal, and I didn't feel unwanted there... sometimes it's all about polite communication and cultured behavior...

regards

If they named the location e.g. Apartment by the young Soča, there wouldn't be any misunderstandings at all, we wouldn't write anything here and the providers would have fresh nerves. They themselves blew it with the name choice, you need to look one step ahead also there, let's be realistic...

I agree with all the previous ones too. Three years ago we too, when we were on vacation in Trenta, spotted Kekec's homestead and went there with the kids. They also quickly dismissed us because we weren't their guests there and the kids were too curious where Kekec lived. They didn't ask anything else than if Kekec lived here. We had to leave and go. They told us to inquire in Kranjska Gora what Kekec's homestead is and what Kekec's Land is and to go there instead, where it's for kids. I also think it's not fair because Kekec's homestead is widely advertised and they filmed a movie here that we all loved to watch and kids still do. regards

I think this topic has nothing to do with mountains. For every trip, for every mountain tour you have to prepare properly, if you don't know where you're going and even less where you arrive it's always hard.

Yes we knew where we were going, to see the little house where they filmed kekec. Anyway it was only a matter of time before such a comment appeared.

If they wanted, they could have resolved the ambiguities at the homestead long ago, since they're not operating the first year. And tavorh, you who master polite communication and cultured behavior, don't talk about people "of your caliber." Because that's not polite, nor cultured.

Rok or Tadej please, if possible, move this topic to general discussions! since many of us think it belongs there how friendly or unfriendly someone is in the valley to kids or politiciansnasmeh. And whether it deserves criticism or isolation and turning away other visitors... Thanks if you'll comply!

I agree with many predecessors too. We stopped there last Sunday when we viewed the Soča source. We stopped by chance because we saw the sign. (To avoid misunderstanding, we didn't have kids with us; just 4 adults.) When we arrived we sat at the table and ordered the only dish on the menu - jota. While waiting I took a walk around the homestead, which completely disappointed me in connection with its name. As I stood in the meadow next to the homestead trying to imagine how they filmed Kekec here, the owner rushes to me saying: "Please leave. We have accommodated guests here and we can't afford something like that." She shocked me so much I couldn't even move. I still don't understand what they can't afford, and it's worth mentioning that it was obvious they didn't have full occupancy. Besides, I think I qualified as their guest too, but obviously not the kind they want. After that I returned to the table just as this same lady, obviously annoyed, served us the jota. I thought maybe she didn't know I was their 'guest' and would say at least a word of apology, but again I was surprised by her arrogance. After we ate she quickly recited the bill to us (didn't give it of course) and let us know we're no longer welcome.
I know I'll never return there, neither for lunch nor to stay, because I think their attitude to guests is utterly inappropriate.

When I look back at this unpleasant event, it would maybe really have been better to leave right away, but I still don't fully understand this event myself.
What seems very strange to me about them: They are a tourist farm, but they don't want guests. (As you can read in previous posts, children and young families are not welcome, random passers-by neither, groups of adults also not,...?!?) If anyone understands this, please share the explanation with me.

Izza, really a pity, because you didn't stand up and leave when she brought the jota. Welcome are guests with thick wallets who announce themselves beforehand. And obviously they're still doing very well judging by their attitude towards others.
