Yeah, if they messed with my almost distant neighbors Janez and Urška too (Urška is anyway always there)nasmeh, then they would really be spitting in their own bowl, which they're kind of doing anyway nowvelik nasmeh

Regarding Pehta, as the previous one said, she wasn't bad at all, people just misunderstood her, Bedanc wasn't bad either, sometimes life makes you like that, God helpmrk pogled

Maybe someone would come to stay overnight sometimes if they could check it out first and get a feeling of being welcome there. On the net you don't see everything you can see there and everyone creates their own picture of the homestead. It's surely easier if you see it live. The surroundings and accommodation are excellent indeed, but the male owner who also serves food doesn't give a feeling of being welcome when he walks around the homestead with a grim face, unfortunately. The lady is so-so, still somehow works.... The most positive seemed to me the girl who helps (probably daughter), she at least asks if anyone wants anything else and acts friendly. No one wants to be a second-class guest. Some are allowed more on the homestead than others anyway. Personally I won't go there anymore and I'm sure many others won't. LP from Kekec's land

LPmrk pogled Living catastrophe!!!! When you arrive no one even asks what you came for. Everyone looks at you like a bum as if you came to beg for something free, horror!!!!! I would gladly drink or eat something there, buy a souvenir but nothing doing, horror!!!!! I brought my kids who in the movie saw Kekec as a wonderful person, so that someone would say just one word and say something about Kekec but nothing. And since I thought it was a mistake I went again the next year and it was even worse, because there was a room that was supposed to be the dining room (which I didn't know) I went in and looked at Kekec's pictures the owner came and scolded me what I'm doing here at all, horrible!!!! I would be very happy if they hid all the advertising panels and signs because they bring shame to all of us who had a wonderful memory of Kekec and passed it on to the younger generation and rename the whole thing to just Tourist farm "unwanted"mrk pogledmrk pogledmrk pogledmrk pogled

Kekec and Mojca are not there, but the apartments in the huts are named after them. In tourism it's like that, every host looks to guests who will return, because there the key magnet is wilderness, primality and peace and Soča trout on a platter. The estate is small and suitable only for momentary guests, likewise the interior spaces in the hut. There is enough other space in Zapodno to find our own spot for picnic, peace, views, play, why force to the huts which compared to nature are second-class human inventions and even those are only the authentic ones that people build exclusively with natural materials (stone, wood) from the original surroundings-France, Switzerland, also Austria in alpine regions.
Similar case is at the sea in the camp of huts-bungalows in Kanegra, where I myself couldn't imagine that someone, after swimming at the beach, then goes to the nearby rented foreign apartment, looks around and possibly showers there too and peeks into the rooms a bit.

I don't know if you are the owner or his friend, I don't care, just let me tell you something. For more than a decade I've been combing Slovenia far and wide and whenever possible I like to stay at Slovenian tourist farms. As I read on this forum there are comments that more deep-pocketed people go there, believe me, mine is very deep too, but I quote "In tourism it's like that, every host looks to guests who will return" first of all you have no idea about guests and I WILL NEVER RETURN TO YOU and all my acquaintances!!!! If you don't know what etiquette is in farm tourism I can tell you because I have a lot of experience. When a tourist arrives the host's first word is GOOD DAY OR WELCOME.... which is very foreign to you, I hope the owner is not a foreigner either. I've never left a farm tourism without them offering their specialties but at yours you only see it written on the net. And if I comment again on your last paragraph about "Kanegra camp" I hope you too will rename the farm tourism to "camp" because you bring shame to the rest of farm tourism in Slovenia and I also hope the camp won't be called Kekec's because you would destroy Slovenian heritage or rather the name Kekec. But "garage house" would be very suitable for you because there you could have marked FREE or OCCUPIED and how many spots are still free so your guests wouldn't be confused.

Regarding Kekec, you're looking on the wrong side of Vršič. The real Kekec's land that we know from the movies is around Kranjska Gora. Here it's just the name related to Kekec. And here only guests with prior notice are welcome. At least that's what I was told.

as far as I know ... this is the right side ... where they filmed kekec mežikanje
but true ... random guests are not welcome here ... although they would like to be guests and not intruders which they apparently consider them zavijanje z očmi

I myself had a bad experience with them years ago ... when with kids we wanted to see kekec's homestead and eat and drink something there ... but we were extremely unfriendly served only drinks ... and that in the sense ... here you go eek

of course it depends on each innkeeper what guests he wants ... but then he should advertise it properly ... also on directional signs ... that only pension guests and groups are welcome ... other passers-by should stay away ... that would be much more correct for everyone ... than literally chasing you off the yard jezen

I would illuminate the opinion of sola5, who praisefully says that he is lucky, God thank, good Slovenian farms with open doors. That pension in Zapodno, which is neither a farm (nothing is produced, although completely local food from surroundings), no extra beds, even the name Kekec's homestead is just assumed with apartment names, so here we can't talk about farm tourism in general. It's a small building for closed groups of guests and that's it. Besides, we can't force ourselves somewhere where there are owner's rules. Old saying take it or leave it and then let everyone judge by their inner feeling what environment and host will make their earned vacation happiest.

Thinking that Kekec's homestead is in Zgornja Trenta I saw the sign Kekec's land near Kranjska Gora. I watched kekec with great pleasure.

But they filmed it at:
Filming locations

-Gozd (small village in Tržič municipality)
-Kranjska Gora (filmed at Bedančev end, where they filmed most of the movie)
-Slap Savica (filmed right under the waterfall)
-Mojstrana (scenically built village)
-Sleme (scene filmed with song: "Good will is the best")
-St. Joseph's Church, Ljubljana (former studio, scene of gorge with stream filmed)

I share the experiences of predecessors. We've been going there for years, but this year the bottom fell out of the barrel. Beer 3€, coffee 2€, and that at a location where everyone drives by car. No sign of a bill. Arrogance and inhospitality of the owner: on the question if we can get something to eat, he replied only to pension guests, although they served other guests indiscriminately.
Yuck puffed-up arrogance, never again ... shame of Slovenian tourism...

@neph: why should @Laščan be wrong? We still have both relatively and absolutely the majority.

But it's true that something like a pure Slovene doesn't exist. What all has gone through our territory in history, so that in the end we mixed with former brothers!

I think I somehow understand the behavior of the owner of this so-called "Kekec's homestead", although it's again typically Balkan.

Yes, he won't put up a sign that it's only for pension guests or even publish it e.g. on the internet. Because when there are none or fewer, he won't mind a random traveler either. But it's unacceptable to throw them out or even be rude to them when he has a crowd with 'pensioners'.

In e.g. Austria they would in such a case just spin a bit faster, grab work more, maybe for such dates when predictable hire some extra labor and have more money in the till and wouldn't badmouth them on the net. Because if you type 'Kekčeva domačija' into Google you'll find our forum right under their home page where we criticize them.

This Kekec's homestead will sooner or later have to play different notes with its owner if it wants to market tourism well in the future. The first value in tourism and proper approach to guests is friendliness and helpfulness to everyone. In the future, Italians can disappear as part of the tourist segment, which is already showing somewhere. In such a scenario, our guests, neglected as passing newcomers, will be very welcome in Kekec's land. E.g. Davo Krničar's Mountaineering Center in Ravenska Kočna 1020m is open and heartily welcomes everyone. They say, man turns, God turnszavijanje z očminasmeh. Lesson follows; Let God's vibrations work and everything will be perfectly finenasmeh.

everything you wrote is true. Outbursts of vulgarity spewing from the owner's mouth know no bounds. He sullies Kekec's name and doesn't deserve to manage this wonderful hut. On the way there I also came across used women's pads and some other filth, but that can't compare to the behavior of the so-called "caretaker".

Sadly, we also had an unpleasant experience. On the way we wanted to check out Kekec's homestead too, and when we approached the hut, they literally chased us away. Apparently we could disturb their guests zmeden. Well, that prompted us to look at the parked cars - all Croatian plates. Nothing wrong with providing privacy to guests, just the wrong communication strategy. Given all that's written above..they've definitely desecrated the borrowed name and memory of the friendly Kekec.

Our experience with Kekec's homestead is also catastrophic. Two years ago we were in Trenta with kids, on the way from Zapodno we decided to stop at the aforementioned homestead and have some jota. We went there, sat at the table thinking someone would come, greet us, ask what we want. Nothing like that, the host (who that was, we found out later) was calmly cleaning the pool, the hostess wasn't visible for at least ten minutes, when she finally came, she quite arrogantly told us they have a lot of work with stationary guests and no time to deal with us. Stunned, I told her we visit a lot of farms in Slovenia and Europe with the family, but I've never heard or experienced something like that, and only when I said what if I'm a representative of some tourist organization looking for suitable locations for our five-star guests (which isn't true, but the lady didn't know), she said okay, she'll bring us jota. Well, then we got up and didn't even want to hear her graciously bring a plate of jota, which we would have honestly paid for. Lesson of the story: NEVER AGAIN TO KEKEC'S HOMESTEAD and I tell everyone, even foreigners I deal with a lot who like coming to Slovenia, especially this corner of our country, to avoid Kekec's homestead by a wide margin and go eat elsewhere in the Soča Valley. I advise the owners to go to other parts of Slovenia to learn how to run a tourist farm, how to treat guests and how to bring them back, above all I advise them to learn to be polite and respectful to their guests. You never know who your guests are, today they might just have a cup of coffee at your place, tomorrow they'll come for a week, bring friends, who bring theirs.....

So, I have to respond to all these negative thoughts. Last year, sometime in August, we decided to visit this famous Kekec's homestead. Late afternoon we arrived, hungry, thirsty... No one greeted us at the door, so we peeked a bit, called. The host appeared and later the hostess. Of course we got a good cold cut platter, homemade juice for the kids, for us I think beer. They sat with us, observed a bit and soon conversation started. We decided to go to the Soča source and maybe to the valley. The host said we could return by bus, or maybe better he comes to pick us up. We decided to stay overnight there. For me it was enough to the source, then I came back nicely, the others went further to Trenta, but since dusk was falling, they returned on foot. There were five of us - two younger kids with mom and us two..grandma and grandpa. Upon return, the host explained in detail how he got this homestead, that it's completely demolished and rebuilt, and he did most of the work himself. He showed us every corner and every building. Showed where we'd sleep... I think you just have to see it. This is not a hut, not a caretaker... this is a homestead with owners. Dinner was late, game goulash, polenta, starter grilled cheese, tomato drizzled with olive oil. Kids got homemade grape juice, we ordered a bottle of homemade white wine. For dessert ice cream. Everything was super tasty, wonderfully served. I emphasize again, this is not a hut where you get some simple stew... Here it's something else. Meanwhile the hosts talked with us and joked a bit with the kids. We slept in the rooms at the top of the homestead, Rožle and Mojca rooms... nicely arranged, clean. For breakfast we wished for buckwheat porridge and milk, kids eggs on homemade bacon, cheeses. Of course we also got tea, coffee, fruit, juice... After breakfast the kids played thoroughly, cuddled the bunny and puppy, we debated a bit more with the owners, and didn't hide our enthusiasm from the first minute to the end.
We said goodbye and the conclusion was - good things praise themselves, no need for hosts to chase after you and blow smoke up your ass, tell others to come to us.. Also about the price I'd say something... in the valley in Trenta we asked how much half-board would cost, not much less, but about the quality of stay, service, food I won't even talk. So, we'll go back there, we've recommended to many acquaintances and friends, many have been there and no one was disappointed.
