Kekec's Homestead

Important info missing: did you stop there randomly without prior notice of your dinner, overnight stay and breakfast or did you announce everything in advance?

we announced in advance....

but by the way I observed how they behaved towards, how should I say, passing drinkers who just had something to drink and relaxed and I didn't notice unfriendliness...

Then most unfriendliness is just imagined.
I never stopped there, but I heard from acquaintances who (unannounced) were sent away unfriendly!

Hello, today we visited Kekec's homestead, we weren't pre-announced. The owner welcomed us kindly, we ordered only drinks. He joined our table after a while, chatted pleasantly with us, showed us all the rooms, was very friendly to us. That beer costs 3 eur isn't excessive, since it's not some ordinary dive, there it's on a high level. It's true though, the owner is a very good salesman and psychologist. We were there for the first time, very nicely received, enthusiastic, we'll return there and recommend to many.nasmehIf you're some puffed-up asses, better stay home at computers.

A person who needs guests to earn something probably won't chase away all of them. You probably weren't there when he welcomed all guests in the last few years. Don't judge only by your own experience. IQ 0.0

Of course I'll judge only by my own experience. For me he's a very good host, good winemaker, real innkeeper. It's true that he sets rules in his house and that's right, whoever doesn't understand it just doesn't, and you don't have to be damn stupid for that.

Obviously moderator deletes comment when sees "forbidden person" mentioned without reading the essence of the post. In which the name of that person is not the point! So let me explain with another example:

Janez is known for his arrogance and rude behavior to fellow people. However he is friendly to Metka who he likes and Jože who is regular customer in Janez's inn and always leaves most money. Metka and Jože therefore have good experiences with Janez. So we can conclude Janez is good person. Even though he rudely calls Micko a dog, old Ančka an old witch, mentally disturbed Matevž an idiot and all he doesn't like with worst insults. But only what counts is opinion of Metka and Jože because others are just mischief-makers.

Write what you want, we had a great time and will go there again. But I also know it's true as you are to others so you get back. You need to first see and understand yourself. That famous people go there is known. But it's right that owner sets boundaries, he is master in his house and really no need for every arrogant fool to go there in his opinion.jezen

Who is this arrogant fool? Someone has a nice opinion about this arrogant fool you mention. So you shouldn't insult him, since this arrogant fool is a good person, whom some like to visit.

Am I really the only one noticing how "isantl" diligently repeats the mantra "he is master in his house, owner sets boundaries..."? Which tells me that (probably warned by some friend about what opinions appear here), the "great master on his own" himself registered on the portal to express his arrogance here a few times. Ignore him and we won't have to read such entries anymore, he'll leave as he came.

Ah, by the way this too: Surely you've noticed that a few months ago he already registered here with some female name to boast what a good host he is? nasmeh

I browsed the internet a bit and "user with name and surname" obviously really exists (couldn't find out what connection he has with the homestead), but definitely does advertising (also with his Facebook profile), and not only on this portal. But I agree with Kriška that in the case of user "isantl" it's the same person, too obvious from the writing style and the profile's appearance.

I'm a new user though I've followed the site for several years.

I too have a similar extremely bad experience with this Kekčeva homestead and its owners.
Last year for the first August weekend we came walking to them, 6 adults and 3 kids, but the owners didn't address us even once during the half hour we waited to eat and drink something. All the time they walked by us talking to some friends-acquaintances (judging by the conversation topic) at the neighboring table.
After half an hour we had enough and asked them if we could order something. In response we got a gruff reply that we weren't announced, like what we even wanted.
We stood up and walked back to the hut at the Soča source and ate and drank there.
They won't see us in this "Kekčeva domačija" anymore.

I can't believe how this debate has developed. I really didn't think things would go this far. Good that you searched, I really exist and everything I wrote is true. I'm truly surprised by what you experienced there. But I must tell you, the first impression when we arrived was really more negative and I immediately said, this isn't an innkeeper because he somehow wouldn't even move, then we politely asked if we can get something to drink, he said yes and we sat behind the house. He brought us drinks and left. After a couple of minutes he came and started talking to us. I must say probably by dialect he figured where we're from. We found out he has many vineyards in Styria. My sister and brother-in-law are vineyard owners and they found common ground. Maybe he was friendly because of that, I don't know. As mentioned, my first impression wasn't the best, then things developed somehow and we got a good feeling somehow. I really repeated several times he's the master, I said that from that viewpoint because I'm an innkeeper myself and know guest is king, but still you must set your boundaries somehow. I apologize to all if someone got the impression I'm convincing them opposite of what they experienced there and I'm not advertising for him. I was there first time, I liked the place, ambiance, everything is nicely arranged. I know he as a person wasn't quite to my liking either, a bit too arrogant, but now reading all this I'll definitely go again and watch his behavior closely, not because I don't believe you, but to see what a good actor he is. I too when I go somewhere even if sometimes not satisfied go back after some time and check how it is, probably occupational deformation and believe me my heart always hurts when I experience such things and I always tell myself such people shouldn't work in hospitality. I've been an innkeeper for 37 years, still dedicated to my profession, so I apologize to all I may have hurt with my writing. Nice greetings from a beautiful tourist place in Dolenjska.

Damn, I'll really have to go check it out. Then we'll see. I judge people by how they behave towards me. And that's how it'll be for me no matter how they behave towards others and that's how I'll report here on the portal. And of course I won't announce myself since nowhere does it say you have to.

Unfortunately in the near future I don't have a visit to those places or some hike starting nearby planned. Well, an opportunity will turn up...

Today we were at Kekec's homestead - catastrophe!!!! Nothing to see, nothing like it used to be, everything too renovated, host so withered and broken, like he's been sleeping a hundred years. And if you ask him something, just yes, yes, yes..... nothing, from nothing!!!! Worth only going to Soča source, you got something to see. Lp.

We advise hikers against visiting Kekec's homestead. Expensive and very average food, the lady working there has a very condescending if not insulting attitude towards visitors. She tells guests without issue to leave as they've been there too long. When we asked about other hikers' experiences we found our case isn't isolated. So - Kekec's homestead in Trenta - never again!
