Kocbek Hut on Korosica 1808 m

Today I was with my wife and her friend on Korošica. The roof is nicely renovated, only the construction material has not yet been removed. The path itself takes a good two hours from Podvežak pasture. This path is nice and not at all strenuous.
Since we were hungry we ordered: I vampe, wife and neighbor vegetable soup. We paid a bit over 14 euros for all together. OK, no problem if the vampe weren't watery, vegetable soup so thin that any girl on a diet would be happy with it. I've been hiking the hills for 40 years, never has such a thing happened to me. Really not exaggerating when saying that in the soup there was almost no vegetables and salt let alone a bit of fat or roux. I think I won't go to Korošica until they change the cook. Ah yes, don't forget, the strudel was good.

On Saturday we were at Kocbekov dom. True, they don't have much choice in food, what they have is already pre-prepared food which they just heat up. That's what the friendly cook explained to me. Good thing I read this forum before leaving.

Let me join in, piskrceknasmeh On Friday late evening we arrived at Korosica - we didn't eat though, so I can't comment on food, but we were treated to exceptional friendliness of the warden who accepted us (despite us having a dog with us), and next morning the best tea I've ever drunk. So I'll definitely return, next time with climbing gear, since there's an equipped climbing wall near the hut... Praise!

You at least got something to eat, even if somewhat watery. The group at the next table (true already last season) got the answer: "Everything is eaten. I have nothing." And it wasn't late (not much past noon), nor any special crowd. If the occupancy in the hut is still the same, this year's experiences don't even surprise me. Nice mountain greeting!

I've already read several times something about Kocbekov dom on Korosica. Here and there also some criticism. But personally I have to praise everything. Staff is very friendly, they try for mountaineers and hikers. Nicely arranged, good and varied service. Friendliness of staff, which is the most important in mountains.

From everywhere only criticisms about Kocbek hut on Korošica. Get it into your heads that the hut is supplied with food and everything in May by helicopter and with that stock must survive to end of season. Staff, believe me, tries to please demanding hikers. I must praise everything.

Somewhere I read about food etc. in Kocbek hut on Korošica. Well informed about everything, I know the food is excellent, that at 12 noon it wasn't available is impossible. But that food in huts is reheated is true, I can't imagine preparing fresh stews every half hour. About the strudel being good, that won't hold, because they haven't prepared it at all this year, instead a wonderful fruit-cottage cheese pie was prepared. I'm also well acquainted with that, since I'm a guest on Korošica at least once a month. Thanks to the staff in Kocbek hut on Korošica, I have a good time with you!

This shows exactly how this praise was written. That guest is one of the staff who praises their own poor hut provisioning. Better try for better and quality service.

Why doesn't our PZS with leading figures and hut staff organize some excursions to mountain huts in Austria or Italy. There let them look at what offers they have under the same conditions and how little needs to be changed. At least let them copy the ideas.

Yeah. And best we build a gondola to every hut too, or even a road and parking lot to the hut and everything will be perfect. Who has ever seen you slogging up the hills, arrive at the hut hungry and thirsty and they don't have shrimps and merlot, right?

It is really nice in the hills in Austria and Italy, but let's be content people with what we can experience in our beautiful mountains. Everywhere is nice, but home is the nicest, and even if we don't always get exactly the food we want.

Here I have to chime in. On Korošica I've stayed several times, I can say everything was OK. Those who miss the valley comfort just stay home. Franc

I like that about shrimps and merlot though. Just something the mountain buddy forgot: even better a napkin around the neck and a bowl of water with lemon to wash our fingers... some joke must be there. Whoever wants a five-star offer should go to a hotel or pick peaks and huts in Austria and Italy, if really everything there is top top... My opinion is that in a mountain hut it's quite enough if you get good barley soup or jota, yeah beans fit here too. A la carte should stay nicely in the valley.
Good luck to all!

I've been going to Korošica for at least thirty years. In all these years I was disappointed only once and that's this year, when I got watery soup and strudel i.e. dry pie, as someone before me wrote. I also wrote that the pie was still quite good. Overall, my experiences on Korošica have always been very positive, but if once you write that something is wrong it's fire on the roof. People, learn to accept criticism which is mostly well-meant and don't act like an "offended country bride." zavijanje z očmi

Maybe you stayed overnight, did something else, but you certainly didn't eat. That's why you're satisfied.

Regarding the food at Korošica, I'd say whoever is not picky is never hungry. Best regards FRANC

I think a person can criticize if something is not okay, and it's not necessarily because they're picky.

If you're going to criticize, in my opinion unjustifiably, at least have the courage to sign your name. Dečko

What, do you go to the mountains just to gorge. Nobody is satisfied with anything. What about nature and the wonderful environment. That's why you go to the mountains, right? Constantly some criticisms, one time this, another time that.... I'm sick of reading this, write something nice about the environment, flowers, the path, friendly encounters etc. Constantly this tea, that ričet, that vegetable soup..... Štefan

I agree with Štefan, when you five-year-old pansies cry, mommy this, mommy peepee, mommy... you who constantly whine, you're not mountaineers at heart, you're just spoiled mummy's boys..., I'm wondering what you eat at home and how...angry
