Kocbek Hut on Korosica 1808 m

Huts operate for profit; the better the food, the more will be sold.
If something doesn't suit you, tell it directly to the person concerned, not shit around on forums at length.
Food at home isn't always as good as you'd like either. If you're really hungry, almost everything tastes good.
Sometimes I observe "hikers" who make a nice mess in the hut with food from their backpack, dirty the table, under it... They get up and go, then complain in front of the hut how dirty it is. Who could understand them.
At Dolič you sometimes got such tea that you didn't know if it was tea or just something yellow? But look at this season: excellent food, clean premises. When I was up there, very diligent and nice girls could hardly serve all those craving their goodies.
Keepers are trying, sometimes it works better, sometimes a bit less. We can help with initiatives, well-intentioned tips, or just by bringing cups and plates back to the hut. Or we can praise them.

May there be as many good keepers and cooks as they've had so far!

best regards, Saša

Kids, don't cry about the service, you're not in a hotel anyway. These are mountains, nature where you enjoy, not cry about what you'll eat; if nothing suits you, bring your own shrimp and salad, steaks.
Where has this folk gone astray, nothing pleases anyone, then stay home.angry

Boy, Štefan, Saša, that's how it's spelled. Occasional hikers should be quiet. Best regards, Franc smile

Whether I'm picky or not, I want the best for my money. Are prices lower because it's in the mountains? No, so pay the cook higher salary and they'll cook well.

How can it be cheaper if everything has to be carried up or delivered by helicopters. Delivery prices are desperately expensive. There it's necessary to change the caretakers!!! Not everything (among caretakers) that glitters is gold! Alojz

I'm interested in the condition, or rather snow conditions at the Korošica location??
Best regards

Has anyone been to Korošica, or does anyone have some data on conditions on the path?

Two days ago we went from Planina Podvežak towards Korošica, but only to the first junction for Molička peč, where we turned for Veliki vrh. The path was trodden also further towards Korošica. Snow mostly sinks in.

How high can one drive towards Planina Podvežak? Is anything trodden towards Korošica?

With a car you can go to Planinšek, that's the last intersection towards Podvežak (125m), onwards on foot! Yesterday we were up there, otherwise the path was trodden before but new snow covered it and it was tough, 2 hours and a half walk to Podvežak, onwards it went much faster since the snow was hard! Well, a bit after we arrived at Podvežak three came with snowmobiles and trampled the path, we were struggling so much before! The path is quite OK but need to get going fast, approx 4 hours walk from Planinšek to Korošica.

Probably should inquire, I think it's more trodden from the direction Klemenča jama-Škarje Korošica. Today in Robanov kot I noticed also lots of tracks on Moličko peč!

From Planinšek to Korošica you don't need to walk to Podvežak. You can ascend the shorter path over Vodole pasture. I recommend it; to me personally this variant is nicer than from Podvežak.

It is marked. The path from Podvežak joins at Inkretov studenec.

Stolar, best thanks! Even then we saw that towards vodolam it was already trampled 3 days after snowfall! But still I'm curious how the winter path Klemenča jama-Škarje and further or Robanov kot-Molička peč and further is; this one is quite a big feat for a mountaineermrk pogled

Both paths require necessary equipment and experience in winter conditions. So, if you don't have that, it's better - Podvežak/Korošica or also Vodole meadow/Korošica.

Yesterday, 18.2.2009, we went up from planinšek to podvežak meadow where we snacked. At the meadow it already started blowing pretty hard, I think around 70 km/h, it was unbearable. New snow (around 5 cm) on wind-exposed slopes was blown away. Further we went to korošica along the marked winter path. Later we figured it's better straight over tolsti vrh, faster route. From tolsti vrh towards sedelce pass blowing around 80 to 100 km/h; if not prepared, wind just moved you. In calm really hot. To sedelce pass mandatory winter gear (crampons, ice axe). We slept in bivouac at korošica-kocbek hut, had to dig it out as whole hut almost snowed in! It was really nice. Next morning (today) we headed to ojstrica but due to fierce wind we started descending. Back same path to tolsti vrh then racing to podvežakvelik nasmeh! Descent was relaxing racing down slopes. Snow on leeward sides hard! New snow blown to old base otherwise sometimes hard sometimes soft, lots of windslab. Yesterday and today gale raged up therevelik nasmeh Sun really burned me so recommend sunglassesvelik nasmeh No sign of avalanches!

Winter tires and experienced driver are enough. Yesterday I almost laughed when I saw what problems someone had with Ibiza, obviously had too heavy foot. I'd say like this, with light gas you get far. Chains and shovel still in the trunk. Happy driving and safe trip. LP, JTrogar.

If you were Mavhar no hard feelings, but it was really funny to see traces of problems almost at every bend. Real skid marks. Regards, Janez.
