And I waited for sunset, by car a bit higher until ice appeared on the road, hard snow. I carried crampons in hands and put them on above the forest, since without them I wouldn't have made it to the top. Surprisingly no wind on the top and not as cold as yesterday on Blegoš.

Yesterday for Valentine's I took my dear to this peak. As the predecessor wrote, against expectations the wind and cold were within normal limits. In the afternoon the wind strengthened a bit for a short time but no force. Without crampons it doesn't go there currently. But it was a wonderful day with turquoise blue sky and views you can hardly believe are real. And no crowd. A couple of hikers and one doggie nasmeh

Last day before clouding over I decided to jump to Krasji Peak.
At 7 in the morning everything looked somewhat unpromising due to fog over Drežnica plains, but around 1300m the sky opened and the views were incredible.

I intended to go the right path past the snow hole, but would have had to break trail, so I changed my mind because the left path past kolujev is properly trodden.

I was at the top at 9:00, on descent the snow was already slushing due to strong sun and it was sliding even with crampons.

Last weekend on Krasji vrh, the snow is very wet, but crampons are still handy. The trodden path goes directly up the ridge, it branches off where we come out of the forest.

With the car you can get to the bend, from where the mulatjera goes to the Curk waterfall.

On the north side past the snow hole there is still lots of snow, but it is not trodden. The south side is bare. Snow is still in the forest. No winter gear needed. Lp

Finally made it to Krasji vrh. Not so close, glad the guide put it in the excursion plan. 16 of us on Krasji vrh on Saturday the 16th. Start in Drežiške Ravne, up the left path and past Snežna jama on descent. On summit and descent some snow patches, but they do not hinder. Weather held, did not get us wet. Walk pleasant, no steep ascents, but 1,000 m gain. Big temp difference between Kobarid and summit, to be considered for gear. Bravo to the guide for tour choice and driver for comfy ride... nice places.

14.12. Morning was clear. But later the sky grayed over. December day. Asked two guys returning from the top about conditions. They said previous days they trod and led path a bit left of usual summer path. Also away from cornices when snow slides to valley. No winter gear needed. Indeed not. Not too cold. Thermometer I had with me showed +6°C at top. No wind. Almost too quiet. Descent on interesting bob track by hikers. Polovnik ridge nice view from top. Several times walked dry. Now well snow-covered. View to Vrata saddle and Lopatnik, lots of snow. On descent along road, someone plowed to alm.

Krasji vrh, 15.1.2022. From trough marked path well trodden. Upper part of ascent south completely bare. Path morning shady spots icy, so at least small crampons recommended. After one hour chilling at top descended ascent path. Snow forest under 1300m at 15h already almost puddle.

Yes, it seemed to me those were artillery positions. Some still have directions drawn on the concrete edge where they shot. Otherwise, the cannons on the picture have barrels pointed skyward and could be anti-aircraft guns. Don't know in which language those rings are called koluji...

13.12.2022. Hiking for me means entering nature. And so I walk slowly, almost never run. Nature isn't a gym for me. I will look, feel with all my senses. Thus my spirit enters trees, meadow, flowers. High mountains are a feeling for me. (REINHOLD MESSNER) On Tuesday conditions were mixed. You can drive to the trough. Thermometer there showed minus seven degrees. We continued on foot along the road to the junction for Krasji Peak. The snowy path is known to us. Since it snowed, no one seems to have gone yet. Except animal tracks, there were quite a few. Snow was dry, powdery and trampling was easier than if it had been wet. At the branch for the path past koluji and right past snow hole we chose the first option. We didn't need winter gear. The last part below the summit had wind-scoured snow. Mixed conditions. Also icy. At the summit minus four degrees. But when the wind blows it's colder. We decided whether to go circular or back the same way. If on the other side we would need winter gear. We decided for descent on the ascent path. While descending we met two hikers just below the summit who went the same path as us. Only they will descend circularly. At the starting point we met and they said that conditions on descent were demanding in places. Weather more or less as forecast. That cloudiness from south was rising faster. But take it as is.cool

Krasji Peak 1773 m and Debeljak 1621m. 22.04.2023. As usual we didn't know conditions. We took winter gear. We didn't need it. Snow still on path. But not everywhere. It's melting. Which is right. We decided to leave car at trough in Drežniške Ravne and continue road to branch for Krasji Peak. Not even cold. Only on summit where wind pulled. Some views came. But surrounding peaks more or less wrapped in clouds. As forecast. At junction we choose path past snow hole. Then winter route straight over grass to summit. On descent we also go to Debeljak. Neighbor of Krasji Peak. Wide mulattiera leads to it. Summit extensive and panoramic. Probably rarely visited. On descent nice meeting with local who knows these ends very well. And at trough chat with Tanja, whom we met on winter Krn. Nice Saturday tour, came to 14km walk and bit less than 1200m elevation. Who knows if true what Rudi Kerševan says, that to realize we need little in life, we must sacrifice much. Who knows?
