Exactly what is seen in picture 14 (Javoršček and the Slatenika stream valley in front of it) was the scene of some of the bloodiest battles in WWI on the Soča front. The Italians unsuccessfully attacked for two and a half years from the stream valley to the peak, though they occupied it at one point.

It was not the worst battle for Krasji Peak, but it was bloody like all peaks; the worst was Škabrijel and those ends, Rombon too, and of course the Krn area. Italians had decisive superiority in everything, but sadly they didn't know how to exploit it; for me the most unpleasant path to the top.

I didn't say Krasji Peak, I said Javoršček and I didn't say it was the worst battle; I said one of the worst battles. It is not true that it was bloody "like all peaks". mežikanje

Yesterday, on Sunday 9.12, there was the annual St. Nicholas hike to Krasji Peak. There was quite a nice number of hikers. The day was nice, on the top sun and no wind. Just too little snow for December. They said there was more of it last year and it was much colder than this year.

That a trip to Krasji vrh wouldn't be nice is simply impossible. The peak's name alone guarantees a beautiful day. And if you head out on the trip when fine weather is forecasted and know that the surrounding mountain peaks will still be in snowy form, you've really chosen the right peaknasmeh.

When we drove towards Drežniške Ravne on Saturday, we stopped at the info board and embraced with our eyes the world we'd arrived in. On the left Krasji vrh and the Polovnik ridge, on the right the ridge above Drežnica with Krn at the head.

We parked at Pri koritu and took shortcuts towards our goal. Already before the junction of paths past Kolujev or past Snežna jama, we stepped on the first snow, so we preferably chose the first option. The trees thinned out more and more, views widened with height. Suddenly we saw before us a magnificent sight of circling white-headed hawks, which rose towards Krn and with their gliding created a beautiful show for the eyes and heartnasmeh. Your breath catches, so as not to disturb this happening.

When you step onto the ridge, the mountain world opens up to you from Kaninske gore, across Viš and Jerebica, for a moment towards the distant Austrian mountains, then continues again in another chain across Mangart, Jalovec, Prisojnik, Triglav, pure delights. And the nearby Javoršček, Lipnik and the entire Krnčice range also aroused our interest, since it is a world that still needs to be visited. What a beautiful world! How not, since you stand on Krasji vrhnasmeh!
Yes, and if you meet your colleague at the summit, the joy is even greater and there's no getting by without a group photonasmeh.

We returned along the snowy path past Snežna jama, where it was necessary to watch your step. Fortunately, the snow was soft and crampons weren't needed.
We also visited Pl. Zaprikraj, you must do that too to admire the ridge above you also from that sidenasmeh.
At Pri koritu, once again admiration of the world into which you've stepped; you just had to get here.

Hello, how far can you get with a regular passenger car and park? Is it possible to drive to Planina Zapleč? Is it better to park in Drežniške Ravne? I've never been there.

How crowded is it usually? Is it hard to get a parking spot?

Thanks!

You reach Planina Zapleč by car and the parking is right at the start on the left.
Crowded? I once heard there were two more, but never met anyone. You'll have peace almost for sure.
Regards.

St. Nicholas Sunday hike yesterday. Many of us were there. From Drežniške Ravne still in foggy morning. But higher up the fog cleared and the sky turned blue. Little snow on the path. Pleasantly warm on the summit.

Saturday, 23.5.2020

By car to the parking lot below Zapleč pasture, greeting with the cows on the pasture and we already took the path under our feet. To Zaprikraja by road, then above the pasture into the forest and past the hunting hut to the junction, where uphill we chose the path past the snow hole. If it was still raining at home, upon arrival the sun was already peeking through the clouds, from Zaprikraj onwards it was summery warm. In the snow hole some patches of snow, enough to justify the name it bears. Just before the hole, a meeting with a group that crossed the Polovnik ridge in the direction from Debeljak to Log Čezsoški. I have also done this crossing, in the opposite direction, more than twenty years ago, much has escaped from memory. So also a few steps in the wrong direction, which would have been many more if the group hadn't convinced me that I wasn't going right. I didn't need long to realize what and how and went after them. When we made it to the top, they were already preparing to continue. After a break we descended to the other side and during the descent made a detour to the kolujev. Beautiful day on Krasji, it would be a sin to wish for more. nasmeh
Klavdija,
best regards from us to you and all in the team. Happy travels nasmeh
