and has anyone crossed it, from the top of Škofiča I went further along the ridge, but stopped and went back to Rdeči rob and then down between Rdeči rob and Stador past the lake and on towards Peak above Peski, Batognica. Could have descended to the north side, at least I think, and gone to Peak above Peski from there, but it was a bit too snowy then, since I only had an ice axe.

@ločanka, something about these paths is written at the beginning of posts, @suzanam describes the descent. So you can comfortably go around a bit too. To Prag and left down to the lake following markers, then to Škofič. Beautiful spots, no doubt, so pictures can't be ugly either. At all.

Lidija - so from Planina Duplje via this path to Krnska škrbina you need about 3.5 hours (for the direct path from the lake to the saddle 2 - 2.5 hours - so the detour doesn't take too much time). I'm interested if there are any orientation problems on this path, if the markers are visible (planning for next year). And one more thing: the connecting path Prag - Krnska škrbina was normally passable 10 days ago, same for the snowfields on the Krnsko jezero - Krnska škrbina section.

Yes, from Planina Duplje to Krnska škrbina via Batognica is three and a half hours. And it's worth it. No problems, the path is well (seems newly) marked and signposted, below the signs are mainly on rocks. The connecting path is visible on my picture 22. You can see tracks in the snow (snowfield top left), but how it really looks I don't know, because we didn't go there. Krnsko jezero - saddle is completely dry except for 20 steps on flat. Nice loop path like that, we took less than 5 hours from the hut to Krn summit, with that we spent a lot on observing and photographing, and lunch on Batognica.

Lidija I can't believe the snow is gone already. On 23/7 I crossed three snowfields from the lake to Škrbina; first right above the lake, second before the Prag - Škrbina path junction, a bit higher another one.

What can I say Panda, the snow hasn't disappeared, just not on the path anymore . In between there was almost one summer (like) month.

Lidija, thanks. The connecting path is passable without winter gear, maybe problems in the morning if it's cold.

On Thursday 30.10. I take the gondola from Bohinj to Rjava skala. Climb to Vogel, from there to Konjsko sedlo. A bit up and down, then along the ridge over Podrta gora, Zeleni vrh, V. Kuk, Planjo, Mahavšček to Vratc. Prešeren, barely audible laughter in the distance finds shelter from ever longer shadows, Zlatorog's kingdom glows. In the beautiful night I descend to the winter room in Koča pri Krnskem jezeru. Morning catches me below Krnska škrbina. On the shady side of Krn the snow is hard, partly icy. Southern part of Krn completely dry. From Krn summit I descend again to Krnska škrbina, continue over Batognica, over Peske, Prehodce to Vratc and via Komna back to Bohinj.

Super. How much time did you need for this path? And how did you get to the starting point?

Thanks to both. I started at pl. Kuhinja above village Krn, which we reach from Kobarid via Vrsno. Walking time is about 7 hours, with breaks 9. But I'm not really a reference for timings, because I take lots of photos and go to the valley even slower than uphill.

Dear Mrs. Suzana, I often look at your wonderful pictures and am curious about the type of your camera.

The first of the last two pics is awfully good!!! Four years ago I spent an August weekend (of course partly working) on Zaprikraj pasture. With a colleague we used one late morning for a "hop" to Krn, exactly along that ridge on the right! Lots of war remains on it and of course on the other side of the pasture too. Nice places, no doubt!
