I went 8 days ago from west to east, i.e. Krn-Bat.-VnP. Batognica is nicely trodden, packed. Most couloirs on the western side are out. Ice axe and crampons mandatory. From east to west the tour is two or three shades harder. Regards, p PS Check photo 10/12 on my post on the touring website Snezak. Closer photos I can send you only on Monday.

Yesterday, 8.10.2022, we parked at Planina Kuhinja and under good weather conditions headed to Krn and then via Batognica, Vrh nad Peski and past the lake in Lužnica back to the start. Views were magnificent, visibility excellent, nature interesting, likewise WWI remains, and it would be a sin to set "time records" on such a day.
Morning view of Krn and Batognica.1
Most of the path follows century-old mule tracks, which are still well visible in places, elsewhere their course can only be guessed from the path direction and bends.2
View of Kolovrat.3
View of Matajur.4
The pastures are still lively and, as befits all kinds of herds, differences can be observed here too.5
Towards the top, a view opens onto part of the path traversed. The mulatjera elegantly winds along the steep Krn slope.6
Planina Zaprikaj, left of Planina Krasji vrh, highest peak of Polovnik, right steep grassy slope of Krnčica, background Kanin, Montaž...7
Summit of Krn.8
Krnsko jezero embraced by surrounding peaks, Triglav in the background.9
Left above Krn Lake Lemež, behind it Vršič pass in background. Left of Vršič Mojstrovke, Jalovec, Mangrt, right of Vršič Prisojnik, Razor...10
Batognica and approach direction. The path is very interesting and appropriately secured. Left Vrh nad Peski.11
The entire Batognica is a kind of monument from WWI. There are many remains of objects and items reminding of the senseless carnage.12
Summit of Vrh nad Peski. Very pleasant peak. Though slightly off the path, it doesn't take much time.13
Batognica and Krn from Vrh nad Peski.14
Vrh nad Peski. In the scattered rocks is embedded a century-old remnant of the wall of a former military building.15
Vrh nad Peski from the path to the lake in Lužnica.16
Lake in Lužnica.17
Hut at Planina Kuhinja, good food and Kobariški struklji.18

On Sunday 16.10. to Batognica and Vrh nad Peski from Lepena.

Long on the wishlist - circular tour past Krn Lake, over Krn Notch to Batognica, past Praga to Vrh nad Peski and past Prehodci back towards Lepena.
Unlike the previous day, the weather was completely clear with us. Accordingly, the morning was quite fresh and I fully "thawed" only in the sun at Planina na Polju. But the wonderful light, color and reflection shows at Krn Lake warmed me even more. Upon arrival at Krn Notch, view to the other side and completely different picture. White sea of fog good 100 m below me and couple tongues of fog trying upwards. Fortunately the whiteness stayed at "safe distance".mežikanje
Just short walk on the "poles" and already enjoying the top of Batognica. What surprised me is the spaciousness and flatness of the summit. Almost for a "soccer" field nasmeh
Next peak - Vrh nad Peski looked quite wild from Batognica, but unmarked yet nicely traceable path leads elegantly to it. To the left branches off ca 15 min from Praga towards Prehodci. Beautiful views reward additional 15 min ascent from here.
Part of path towards Prehodci also interesting, but unfortunately visibility to Tolmin side minimal.
Beautiful tour, even nicer in this autumn time. Few more hikers only around Krn.
From Lepena good 26 km and 10.5 h.

bostjanko: super pictures, but on three the "panorama view" played tricks (11,12,20 poorly stitched)....nasmeh

Spelcarocket, panda
thanks for your praises.
panda, correct about panoramas. But unfortunately I had little influence there... You have a sharp eyemežikanje

Boštjanko, you really have excellent feel for good shot and fairy-tale touch. nasmeh
Panda, you have sharp eye for technical quality. I and some amateur photographer friends don't notice any blunder. velik nasmeh

Yes...with panorama it's good to be fast and capture images 3/4, to better overlap....if cloudy and windy, it's harder to match clouds nasmeh

With such picturesque motifs everything is easier mežikanje

panda, I have to admit, I trust image stitching to the phone app. So far haven't noticed weaknesses. Maybe in future I'll download some dedicated app...

Could someone explain the term "panorama view" in a simple way.
I don't know much about it. Thanks

@miri
With a photo from a camera you're limited to the lens capture size. With narrow-angle lenses you capture less (say landscapes) than with a wide-angle lens.
A panoramic shot is made by taking multiple shots while rotating horizontally e.g. from left to right. It is recommended that the shots overlap by 1/4.
Software then "stitches" these shots and you get a panoramic shot.
So e.g. on a panoramic photo it's not just one mountain you'd otherwise shoot with the lens but also those in the near or wider surroundings.
Best regards
Peter S.

Thanks. I kind of get it. Can you show me the mistakes on those mentioned photos too? I don't notice them.

E.g. photo no. 20.
Between the first and second quarter of the image (left) on the clouds you can see something's off wink

No problem. For posting conditions such pics are just fine, from a more "strict" photographic viewpoint of course they wouldn't pass.
I don't use the technique myself. Maybe sometime when there's real need.
Well we've all learned something togethersmile
Best regards everyone,

For panoramas you need quite a steady hand so you don't go off line. And for panoramas moving people who might be on the pic isn't recommended.

on hribi.net we have to make do unfortunately just with image size that is only a section of a modern camera image. For rich panorama from 100 images or more you need tripod and way to display the achieved resolution too. Gigapan project seems somewhat fizzled out, http://www.gigapan.com/ but there still plenty of images taken also in Slovenia...

You won't believe what super stitches computer algorithms and top user knowledge allow. I'm a bit grumpy how time overtook me. smile
