Just for info. Yesterday someone wrote to me that they went to Krn from Planina Kuhinja and the barrier was broken. When asked where they parked? Yeah there by the road before the barrier. Is it made so poorly that it breaks multiple times? Or does anyone know? There's a sign there before the barrier that you can't park. We're in TNP after all.

The ramp was raised in both directions. Some were parked at the official parking lot, others in front of the ramp... none had a "warden's notice" stuck on the car. Obviously no control.

Thursday 28.09.2023 Another summer-autumn day inviting to the mountains. Did a circular route Pl. Kuhinja - Krn - Batognica - Vrh nad Peski - Jezero v Lužnici - Pl. Kuhinja. Since it was during the week, no excessive crowds. Met only foreigners. From locals 4 chamois and one marmot, cows I didn't count.velik nasmeh Wonderful peaceful day in our wonderful mountains. Just to recharge batteries.nasmeh

Planina Kuhinja along the marked path to Krn, cloudy below, foggy in the middle, clear and nice above. There's quite a lot of snow already, carried ice axe in hand, didn't need crampons, they stayed in backpack. On top moderate wind and of course cold.

Krn via normal route, no need for gaiters, winter gear mandatory near the summit.

Krn today (23.12.2023). With little wind. And for the first time this year I went from Planina Kuhinja. Snow on the path further above Kožljak. Those who went earlier needed crampons on the path because there was ice on the path. Later the snow softened a bit. The views were really nice today. nasmehYou could see far away.

Krn. When the clouds disappear. And the sky is blue. Conditions ok on ascent and descent. On the top, just me and Maks were alone.

Crampons are mandatory winter gear. Ice axe too. Now the track is made. The last part is steep below the shelter in the snow.

I took a look at that part too. There's still quite a bit of snow visible. Question is what kind? If it's wind-packed it's quite demanding in that narrow section. No one was seen. Otherwise yesterday on such a nice day very few hikers. The path that branches off towards Krnska škrbina looked trodden.

Sunday Krn. Those who went earlier had some visibility. I was as usual later and when I reached the shelter it closed in. There's still a lot of snow on the slab. Yesterday there were quite a few ski tourers up there. The track goes directly to the shelter. Snow is soft. So the ascent is demanding fitness-wise. Descent is definitely easier. At the top I hoped it would clear a bit. But it didn't. Another foreigner came behind me. When I descended to the shelter the door was open. A couple days ago David spent two hours clearing snow from the shelter because someone left the door open before. And it says on the outside for hikers to close behind them. (17.03.2024)

Hello,
Has anyone been to Krn from Planina Kuhinje in the last days? Is the path dry yet? On the camera from Pl. Kuhinja you can see some little snow under the summit. But I'm interested how much snow is actually on the path and how problematic it is (to go without winter gear).
