Guys, girls - we need to go to the mountains. There you don't ask such things. But since we always have so much to say about how things are here (mostly wrong) - we know that behind these decisions stand people, you and me? Always - municipal, local, city, state, personal... And after meetings we pat each other on the back, saying we've fixed it well. When next time you're also very satisfied pocketing a nice sum for work (of course good and honest, in Slovenia all good and honest supposedly). Then remember Krn and next time do 50% of the work for free. Because that's what you demand and expect. And since from comments and trip choices (gas, gear, purchases...) it's more than obvious we don't lack means for a decent life, and that's how you'll most easily solve your Planina Kuhinja problem. As Drago says - once on Krn, once on Triglav. Thousands of times elsewhere just in nature km around. Safe on paths! lp

Many of these roads that are now being charged for were built and maintained for decades from taxpayer money. If decision-makers read some post that turbo writes, then there's still hope that things will be reasonably arranged for the benefit of all involved.

The direct path from Planina Kuhinja is dry, there is still some snow between the shelter and the summit, which can be bypassed. On the other side, it is still winter.

Just for info, does anyone know if parking at some trailhead is still free depends on who owns the land? E.g. parking in front of the hut in Lepena is owned by the mountaineering club, as I saw on the geodetic administration site. On the other hand, parking at Planina Kuhinja is owned by the municipality. So probably mountaineering clubs have no interest in charging hikers for parking, municipalities do.
Of course in Lepena too the municipality can put a barrier on the road to the hut in Lepena, instead of a parking meter at the parking lot itself and we're the same as at Kuhinja

Further from Krn Lake towards Krn it looked quite snowy on 2.6. This is shot from Krn summit towards the lake (went up from Kuhinja where it's all clear).
