The municipality has arranged asphalt and enlarged the parking lot, it probably cost them at least 30,000 euros. Now they have to pay it off. Alternative is the lower parking lot, if of course no one loads wood there. Or bike, bus or arrange with someone to park and instead of those 10 euros better buy cheese, milk, cottage cheese, that's the left road right under the barrier. Before you plan to leave the car there call Alenka: https://alenkinsvet.si/ and rather give her 10 euros for buying local goodies and park if she allows.

I could also write in bullet points where you pay in the Dolomites and how much. But that's not important to me, I'm happy that something is happening here too in connection with improving infrastructure ...
We happily paid 10 euros for the new asphalt to Velika Planina, although they only charge for parking, we went towards Planina Kisovec, where no payment was needed.
We said we contribute to the new asphalt ...
The warden was pleasantly surprised.
I want to say, progress is noticeable here too, even if in smaller steps.
With the road to Podvežak, they could do the same.
Barrier and paid.
That's about my view on the future of mountain tourism.
Really, we are far behind our neighbors.
LP!

I'm immediately for paving mountain roads and accesses to trailheads and collecting solid tolls and parking fees. I can't even imagine cycling on the Solčava panoramic road when one car already raises a cloud of dust.

If it's private land, let the owner arrange it, asphalt it, arrange parking lots and collect tolls, parking fees, usage fees with his own money. But, of course it's different here: taxpayers pay for arrangement, asphalting, parking lots, maintenance of state, public roads, road tax, greedy and incompetent municipal officials collect parking fees and tolls to cover loans they took for their failed and collapsed projects, returning money to this infrastructure under various names (environmental burden, green tax etc.) is nonsense. Municipal land is usually co-financed by the municipality up to 30%, preferably less, the rest by taxpayers. Let the state grant these masters a concession from which everything will be financed, arrangement, asphalting, maintenance, and collection of various tolls and parking fees. Oh, then they'd have to work and be accountable. Abroad most paid mountain roads are managed by concessionaires (Grossglockner etc.).

28.06.2022. After many years to Krn from Lepena. We decided to go earlier. The tour is quite long on this side. Thunderstorms were forecast in the afternoon. And indeed around 17 o'clock the wind started blowing strongly. Higher up it was a dark sky. Probably not pleasant for those hurrying towards Gomišček hut. Or somewhere else. A tree fell across the road right at the camp. There was a quick intervention to remove it and traffic flowed normally. The path from Krn Lakes is beautiful. Full of flowers. Nicely laid out. A bit below the saddle the path from Lopatnik direction joins. Looks like a landslide on the path to Lemež from Krn Lakes. There were quite a few of us on the path. And on the summit too.
The lake rests in silence. No crowds. On descent we walked along the lake.1

Yesterday from Drežnica via Silva Koren path. The path is officially closed, but I found out only there. I go check if it's possible anyway. About half an hour before the summit 2m of cable is missing (cluttered, poor holds), annoying passage, really not easy. Also in a couple of places a few pulled out and hidden pegs, all unproblematic. Crossing the snowfield at the entrance without special equipment. In lower places the path is very overgrown, you feel the path more than see it. Started at 7:30, had shade almost to the summit.

In August we would climb Krn with the family. Two days we would wander a bit around this mountain range, of course sleep somewhere in between once.
Is there something circular, in the sense that we don't go back the same way. Where is the best place to start.
We are average hill walkers.

With family (i.e. children) I would go from Savica to Komna, past Koča pod Bogatinom to Koča pri Krnskih jezerih, where we would sleep. Next day past the lake to Krn and down to Peske and over Prehodce back to Komna and to the valley.

The tour suggested by Enka is nice and especially over Prehodce you usually don't meet a living soul, but from Savica to Krn one way is 24km, so you have to take into account the heat and on the return from Krn to Koča pod Bogatinom there's no shade or water in between. So on this tour be careful how many km the children can walk in one day. If you go from the other side (Planina Kuhinja) you also have the option of a circular path, up past the lake in Lužnica, down past Gomiščkovo zavetišče to Planina Kuhinja back. Nice also from Lepena and past Krnsko jezero to Krn, back over Prehodce and again return past Planinski dom pri Krnskih jezerih. Good luck!

So I don't open a new topic. After two years' break, we know why there was a ceremony yesterday at Krnsko jezero. For all who lost their lives. Born at the wrong time and not guilty for all the troubles of those war times. So that the memory of them is not forgotten. Today we walk on paths that they made back then. On the path of their faces, often hungry and frozen.

Darinka, this time we were almost together, you at the celebration at Krnsko jezero, us at Krn. Exactly at twelve we arrived at the top, when the salute was heard from the lake. We were also at the celebration for the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI in 2018.
This time from Planina Kuhinja to Gomiščkovo zavetišče. The path was still dry yesterday, just have to overcome the elevation...At the shelter I noticed the memorial plaque for Ervin Gomišček, who died in 1950, only 28 years old while scouting the site for the shelter. Sad, he slipped on an icy slab.

On Saturday, despite high clouds, very good visibility. We could see to the sea, from Gradež towards Venice. And Matajur, Kobariški Stol, all the way to the Dolomites. At the top view of Batognica, Vrh na Peski, and vistas to Triglav. At the top reminiscing about past ascents to Krn, 2244 m, from different directions. Sleeping in the shelter is great too, when the lights turn on in the valley.
Really beautiful views, at one point you could see Krnsko jezero, Soča and all the way to the sea, insanely good. On the planina we picked some rose hips, but no cheese. In Vrsnem we went to Simon Gregorčič's birthplace. The book about his life, work in Kobarid, Dragojila... I always have it at hand. Soča, you beautiful clear daughter of the mountains....
In Tolmin we treated ourselves to something warm and coffee, as we were on the go all day. This was probably the last two-thousander this year, 1,300m elevation gain.

cofka thanks. When you walk these paths where battles once took place, you can only imagine what they endured on these peaks. And many years have passed. lilyd yes exactly at 12 they started with the shooting. The celebration was very nice. And the weather held up quite decently. I remember three years ago we walked in the rain and the celebration was at the hut because the lake had risen. We had snowfall and on the descent water was rushing down the path.

Krn, fog below, clear and cold above, a little snow that wasn't a problem. Up mostly straight through the grass, not on the marked path.
