The view from Matajur across showed a visible path in a zigzag up there. Usually there's a bit more on the mulatiera because the wind deposits it there. The amount can't be determined from a distance, but I think it doesn't represent much of an obstacle; besides, it was melting quite a bit on the south side today.

Straight to Krn over steep grass and directly up. Luckily no ice, sank a couple of cm and old tracks from hikers were there. Crampons only around 1700m up. Didn't wait for sunset, turned back lower before returning down the snowy gully.

04.03.2023. First ascent to Krn this year. Not much snow even. Still need winter gear where snow starts. In that steepness. Saturday gorgeous. Almost no wind. Not many of us on the path and summit. On descent around 2 pm snow already softened as sun heated summery.

First to Kožljek ridge over steep grass, then to Krn roof. Very good conditions, no ice, sank 10-20cm. Someone before me, tracks barely visible. Windy summit. Descended the approach way and again over the nice panoramic Kožljek ridge to the top, where strong wind started and descended steep grass past the alm.
No parking lot yet.1

Notable snow starts above Kožljak, where the shortcut rejoins the mulatiera. Above the Korenovo turnoff, it's trodden directly up to the hut. Walking conditions were quite pleasant despite the late start, as the snow is firm and doesn't sink too much. There is quite a lot of snow, as nothing is poking out on the summit, and at the hut the tables are half under snow. Visibility along the path and on the summit in all directions 30 to 50mzavijanje z očmi Fitting visit; three ahead of me, I caught two Slovaks above Zaslap as they turned back because of the snow, and my colleague called me from the summit when I was already down.

From Friday 28.04.2023, passage and parking to the parking lot at Planina Kuhinja will be possible through the automatic barrier. Payment upon entry only with contactless card. Full day 10 euros. First two hours free. Each subsequent hour one euro.

Last time the local said they couldn't charge for ten years because they signed they wouldn't, as they got parking with EU funds. Now it's over and we're going. As long as people pay, no panic. I know I won't.

I think that does not hold; the parking lot has not been arranged like that for 10 years. By the way, I don't remember anyone complaining about the previous parking form, except the last 300m of road and WC they didn't do much. The goal is always just fleecing.
