Which of the paths is better up and which down? Which is steeper, the hunters' or the marked one?

Decide! Hunters' for experienced and used to pathless terrain. Marked is ordinary secured high mountain path. It's well secured and the aids were last time I was up in perfect condition. Hunters' path has been described several times and you can see what awaits you? Both are steep!!

Another very interesting approach to Krofička without aids and markings - of course only for experienced. http://www.gore-ljudje.net/novosti/36979/ Hope I didn't complicate the choice even more Roban's "palace" meanwhile got a new look ...

My opinion is that it is better to go up the hunters' due to easier orientation, I went down the hunters' and had quite some trouble finding the path to the last meadow where the cables start, which are not in best condition. Cables on marked path are in good condition. It's a nice tour suitable for these days before more snow falls.

Janez, I'm interested if you did the ascent on the trail that's marked in summer or if you used another variant for the winter approach. If you used it, can you describe it from around the place where the fixed ropes start. Thanks and LP

@garmont We did the ascent completely along the marked variant. LP, Janez

On Wednesday 30.3. I set off again, for the fourth time this winter, to Klemenča cave and Puklovec hoping for acceptable conditions for ascent to Ute or Krofička. This time nature favored me and the mountains welcomed me among them. The decision on the goal and path itself was made on the tour. In good snow conditions (consolidated, frozen snow, no wallowing, snow cleared from higher and steeper western slope parts) I soon left the marked path to Krofička from Puklovec below Travnik and ascended straight up the well-filled gully, except for two small bare jumps, to the ridge where wonderful views opened for the first time to the other side into Robanov kot. Based on my wishes I had two options on the ridge, left over Travnik to Ute or right along the ridge to Krofička. I chose the latter and traversed the ridge from Travnik to Krofička, then descended along the marked path direction back to Puklovec or Klemenča cave. Sorry for any description errors, as I usually don't publish my routes, but the beauties and views of this path impressed me so much that I wanted to share them with you. The traversed path like all other winter tours required maximum concentration, caution, winter gear and of course some experience, especially on the ridge itself. Today as I write this, conditions above Klemenča cave are significantly different (too high temperatures) so we'll have to wait longer for the tour to Ute.

Has anyone been up there lately? Is the path (from Klemenča) dry?

I'm also interested in what the predecessors are asking. Is the path dry yet? Thanks and best regards

Yeah, Ojstrica is dry, and from it you can't see any snow on Krofička either. L.P.
