The road over Vršič Pass is open only for passenger cars with winter equipment.

@ggombo1: I had ice axe and crampons. Didn't really need them; some others had crampons up, seemed too slow to me if you take crampons up. And not safer either - sinks so much anyway,... Just advise go earlier than me, snow harder. Anyway take ice axe crampons with you then see how it is. Otherwise reach Vršič no problem by car; tho think this year last time by car to Vršič; from now park in Kranjska Gora and rather bike up lp

Thanks both for the info, on Wednesday morning I'll head from Krško to Kranjska Gora (with ice axe and crampons) , hope there'll be at least some nice weather until Saturday, so I can do some biking and hiking! Regards! Gašper

Then we can go sometime together - we're from the same end of Slovenia (if I'm not at my girl's in LJ). Currently I'm catching a cold, and bronchitis... After the holidays I hope it'll be better and I'd go to the Mojstrovkas Regards, Franci

I'm interested in what the conditions are like for the ascent to Small Mojstrovka. Thanks for all answers.

From Vršič to the summit there's a nice track made. In the morning it's frozen, during the day it sinks deep of course, if you step off the path. Snow melts quickly though, so above the gully part of the path is already bare.

Today I climbed Little Mojstrovka via the little-known path over Šitna glava. A nicely trodden easy unmarked path leads to Šitna glava. From there I continued along the ridge towards Mojstrovka (off-trail possible), to the spot where Hanzova pot joins the ridge. I followed Hanzova pot, which is bare in the upper part, to the summit (don't know conditions below). Best Tadej

Hi
has anyone been recently to Mojstrovka via Hanzova path? Is it bare already? South side probably snow-free already.
Thanks
Best Andreja

At the start there's still some snow (but it's already trampled), further on no more...

The upper part is considerably easier than the lower one, but the last 5-10 minutes are also quite steep here. The path over Šitna glava to Mojstrovka is technically more demanding than the usual one on the south side, but seemed safer to me as there is no scree on it. This path over Šitna glava to Mojstrovka is very nice. It is well visible, maybe two passages a bit more by feel for orientation. But important is that there is no crowd. You sit on Šitna glava on soft green grass and watch the crowd on Mojstrovka. Beautiful view of Robičje. When Mojstrovka empties, you take the ridge yourself and enjoy the sunset. This was my nicest path to Mojstrovka, and there have been quite a few.

I'm wondering if this path to Šitna glava branches off the path going towards Vratica saddle 1807m and further to the north face of Mojstrovka and if yes, how far is that branch from the Vršič road (approx minutes). I don't remember any branch there except the one going down to Erjavčeva hut. LP.

Not sure but I think it branches off from the "normal" path to Mojstrovka...
