Yes, it really goes from the south, the description about the ridge and Hanzova confused me a bit, and we "ski" too much on scree to know the southern path better from the start. Thanks for the clarifications and LP.

Take helmet and safety gear with you, otherwise you won't experience such winters up there. Watch out for thunderstorms! LP.

Yesterday used the last day of vacation and via Hanzova to the top of Little Mojstrovka. No snow, safety gear ok. But yesterday strong and cold wind was blowing, so I used hat and gloves. Quite a lot of people on the path, so helmet almost mandatory. LP Andrej

In summer it's crazy how many people, in autumn you walk alone

Who would go to work on such a nice sunny winter day. I drive to Vršič, road dry from Trenta side. Anyway mandatory chains, whoever sets that knows, good it's not closed due to avalanche danger. Of course I go on foot, track already made straight up over scree all to Grebenc and a bit further, there it ended. Also down I saw three snowboarder tracks, but quite a lot over rocks. Definitely not for skiing yet. Anyway further not problematic as wind blew all new snow away, somewhat hard in places, but no crampons needed. From top beautiful view what to say, you all know it. No severe frost, only on return slight SW started blowing, let it snow again, still too little.

Super pictures. And I just on Friday planned a trip to M. Mojstrovka. But when I saw the road allegedly closed from Kranjska Gora I changed plan and went with buddy to Begunjščica. Would go this week, if not too much avalanche danger. If you know, please tell how is the road passability to Vršič. We can go from Bovec side too. Thanks for reply!

The road was not closed, but they announced that chains are needed, which is of course normal anyway that you have them. Whether you need to use them or not is a matter of conditions. Well, given the current weather, there's no point thinking about any ascent, and also question when the road will be passable again.

Gotta say, great pictures! From which side did you climb to Vršič?

Thanks, to Vršič it "went" from Trenta. To the viewpoint (Šupca) road fully gritted, onwards four-wheel drive or chains.

Nice day at Vršič, nothing to add - you mentioned one of the better sledding slopes, which direction did you mean, and is sledding on the road allowed? Thanks for the reply and happy in the mountains 2009!!

The mention under the picture was more meant as an idea for enterprising Trentarje, of course sledding would be possible, above all safe only with closed road. Of course they could continue with the same activity as they had years ago with closed road also on the Gorenjska side. But interests are different and if there is enough money plowing will be done too.
