Recently got "treatment" rated 19 thumbs down. Part read: "Posts after Sabine's just confirm again no real people in hills. Valley image mirrored to mountains sadly... all care for others not self. Who cares how I hike. Barefoot naked whatever MY business!" Just think on first two above!

@macesen1 why then in PD and extra covers rescue costs from mandatory-additional insurance. Better leave it as I saw tons too, see go on forget.

Insurance really doesn't cover almost anything. But it's true that everyone who is poorly equipped (from footwear onwards...) gets billed for rescue if it comes to that. And of course there's another problem with all this, because such people can dislodge stones etc... and you're in danger because of them too!

Yesterday morning around 8 o'clock we gathered at Vršič. A beautiful and picturesque path led us towards Slemen. We turned left, where after 15 minutes we reached the steel cables. We put on helmets and via ferrata sets. The path led steeply upwards along the steel cables and pegs. There were many hikers and thus great danger of dislodging stones. Towards the top there were no more pegs and steel cables. After less than an hour of climbing we all happily reached the summit. At the summit the weather wasn't particularly favorable to us. Mists were racing and obscuring the view of neighboring peaks. Planica, the hut in Tamar valley and Kotovo sedlo were nicely visible. On the way back to Vršič the weather took pity on us and revealed the view of beautiful Julian Alps, from Škrlatica, Dolkove Špice, Prisojnik, Triglav, to Bavški Grintavec. We returned to Vršič via an easier path. We spent a very nice and pleasant day..

I'm wondering WHY ON THE FRONT PAGE-NEWS IT'S ANNOUNCED THAT HANZ PATH TO MOJSTROVKA WILL BE CLOSED, IF HIKERS ARE POSTING COMMENTS ON THIS PATH? END OF AUGUST I PLAN TO CLIMB THIS PATH. THANKS FOR THE ANSWER. MAJDA

dprapr rated with 19 thumbs because it was read in full... and not cut, like in your post. Get over it once and it'll be easier for you. Both I and LidijaJesih know what we were writing about, you... I don't know what you're trying to prove, keep your joy anyway. But better in the mountains.

Lunca - I'm not "getting over" anything and don't want to prove anything, but I have this bad trait that I don't tolerate hypocrisy and "sanctimoniousness" of some who think only they have the right to discuss mountaineers' equipment. The difference is discussing the equipment of those who should care for mountaineers' equipment or about casual mountain visitors and even posting photos of them. With what right? Next time post your own photo too, so we can at least compare your and their equipment, and maybe a CV of mountain training. Only then we'll get a real idea of who can judge whom. Those who read your post and rated it have every right to do so and I respect that. If someone wants to see it in full, it's available on the *Češka koča - Ledine* page anyway. I have no problem with that and hide nothing. I wish you a nice day in the mountains tomorrow and if we meet, I hope my photo won't be posted in the evening, because I'm usually not equipped to your taste!

dprapr: if you're not that girl from the picture you're completely out of place. Because you don't know what you're talking about either. I didn't (and others sometimes somewhere) criticize the line of hikers that day who did the path without self-belaying, but a specific case. It's not about an adult who should be aware of where and what he's doing, it's about a child who is too young to be reliable. Too young. Period. That's why he endangers himself and others. Whose assessment? Assessment of the mountain guide and the mother. Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, you can walk naked in the mountains.

LidijaJesih How little it takes, just to write and fabricate. If you Lidija as a high-ranking unionist fought against tycoons like against dprapr it would be different for workers too. But we union members work whole days in companies, even weekends and can't afford trips every weekend like you UNIONISTS. Many workers don't have money for transport to the mountains, let alone for via ferrata gear.

I join you, LidijaJesih. Namely, our mountains take too many lives every year. Mountains really aren't a fashion runway... but what you must have in mountains you must have. Many rescue actions were done just because of inappropriate equipment and poor preparation of hikers...

Yeah, lady Lidija, you just cash in and fool around. I'm a former member of your organization, if that can even be called that. Member one year without membership card and benefits card. So I won't litter the forum too much, I'm going back to our thread. Lady Lidija, stop scratching foreign asses anymore, is that why you go to mountains? I personally go to mountains for myself and my peace, not to make problems with others. Enjoy mountains and don't make problems with others anymore Best, Jure

Lidija, just a question: do you know this child? Do you know his abilities? Or just roughly estimate he's too young and endangers you? You write that the father probably hasn't been on this path either. Did you ask and check or is it again a blanket assessment? As I see, both have helmets, so probably not two Sunday tourists? Thanks for the answer!

More than 30 years I've been wandering in mountains and so far no worries about other climbers I met on the way. Really don't care where his thermos is stuck, why no full gear, if his dog makes it, why in shorts, some other worry...?? Also don't expect anyone to care for me. grumpy look OOOO, pathless solitude, where are you! for a couple of years on tours where after 7+ hours I meet no one. But, Lidija, not because I don't have to see "irresponsible and improperly equipped climbers". lp

Yes, the question is... why do you care about someone... he might feel bad... sometimes a warning is worthwhile, bad shoes, improper behavior, boozing. At least back then, say 30 years ago, we felt like one family... sure the internet-mobile generation has its own views, mainly that in mountains only their own ass interests them and nothing else. Alienation, selfishness, right? Thank God there are still normal hikers who know how to greet and reply, unlike some young PUNKS who break records and look disparagingly at others. We broke records too once but had RESPECT. True, some make an elephant out of a fly.. LUCK!
