No snow is forecasted, so the path will probably stay dry, otherwise protections are OK, down sometimes a stone flies by, nothing serious so far.

On Friday my colleague and I headed for Mangart. We decided to go to the saddle by bikes. We started a bit higher than Log; ascent no big deal, full backpack with all gear, fitness solid, weather super... Halfway-ish you can stock up on cold water which helps later. After the road we tied the bikes to a sign at the saddle and went up the Slovenian route. Path well kept, protections perfect, some small snow patches whole way. We progressed fast, then sudden stone barrage (30+), on exposed part. Z...... sound as stones whiz by. Quickly we 'hugged' the wall and waited to calm. Group above caused stones, met them only at top. Met one descending same way no helmet. Short stop at top (some clouds already)) then Italian route to saddle. Path not hard but slippery risk. At ferrata end met 2 who just did it ok. They say they'll soon fix piton and missing cable (now rope). Bikes still at saddle on return, we soon in valley.

Today on Mangart via "Slovenian". A bit over halfway a large rockfall happened, which complicates going on a bit. Haven't seen anything about rockfall anywhere. Who knows more? Best.

If you'd read back a bit you'd see it's probably "old" rockfall, due to which the path was closed some time... that's just remains of some old thing... no worry... I was up 2 days ago, no special notice... since no rain no quake... for new one... please describe exactly where...

Hey no panic, think I know which spot you mean - I was up three days ago too, but there just one rock bit "loose", gotta go around... no big deal

Yes, unfortunately... there was some old landslide there... given the circumstances it would hardly have happened but it did... this means caution and safety in the mountains are never superfluous...

Today after all-night shift I finally managed to carry three more warning signs to Mangart (one was placed already last Sunday). Of course I had to make the signs beforehand, because from Ljubljana I received only self-adhesive stickers (ah this PZS, finds money for everything, just...). Now signs are placed at the saddle, right after entrance to Slovenian route, old and new, and at top by cross. When I went up Slovenian I overtook two, four were already returning because they couldn't climb that spot above landslide. All confirmed they saw old warning sign, but thought it would still go, but obviously not, because need to climb about 7-8m of II grade on exposed part. Otherwise today wonderful day on Mangart and mountains in general. Report on landslide site inspection I will send to one of technical team leaders at KPP and thus it will be decided on path restoration, probably need to relocate section completely.

That day I also flexed muscles to the summit with my husband, but those warning signs weren't there yet, a bit later - probably after us, so we didn't meet 'triglavski', of course I knew the Slovenian route was not possible, well some succeeded anyway, since we were already at the summit when they came from that side. The weather was really divine, except for the wind at the saddle. Safe steps!

In the morning they really weren't there yet, one was indeed there and still is, the others after 12:00, before it wasn't possible, had to take a little nap. Right, it was a nice day, and the hut was open and really tasty minestra was possible to eat.

I know about that one that was already there in the morning, since I commented with Austrians who thought that warning sign was still from before, they didn't know it was about the re-closure. LP!

Me too, Davide and Maremma sheepdog Happy started at nine on the normal route to the summit. First we thought it would be a bit too steep for our pup , but it turned out he was brave and agile enough to reach the goal. On the way back we noticed some people walking on the Slovenian route despite the warning on the rock. At twelve we were already snacking under little Mangart and just then "Triglavski" marched past with his warning signs. .....Several acquaintances gathered that day on this mountain, and some pleasant new meetings weren't missing either! Sabina, did Happy manage the whole path alone, on his own paws?

Yes, but halfway, where there were wires and one passage was a bit more demanding, we saw that he was scared because there was an opening, a hole between the rocks. There we lengthened the path a bit and instead of following the wires, we found an easier passage on the right side, on slabs. It all went without panic! On the way back we went directly. Where it was steeper, I held him by the chest strap, but he did it all himself.

Has anyone gone to Mangart these days and how is the road to the saddle drivable, and are they still collecting toll??Lp

I think the toll collectors have left long ago.
