On Friday I was on Mangart via the Italian route. Weather nice, quite a few visitors even in the afternoon hours. Path is ok, although markings are a bit faded. Need to cross 5-6 snow patches but no problem. 2 hours up and a bit less down. I recommend.

I'm replying about what's the condition on the ferrata Via Italiana. I was there on Sunday and it was wonderful and oh and just supernasmeh!
The protections have been renewed; mandatory via ferrata kit, otherwise you feel free between sky and earth!

Judging by the pictures, helmet is not mandatory at all.

I forgot the helmet, so we got up early and set off on the path to be the first in the wall, so at least no one would be in front of us; otherwise I also advocate the helmet myself!!!

On Friday 16 July we went along the Italian path to Mangart. There's still quite some snow, but the path is well secured. In places some cables aren't needed at all and are very low. Views were very nice especially to the Italian side and Jalovec. It was very cold at the top. There was a crowd, so helmet due to loose rocks on descent came in handy.

Nice greeting
I'm interested where best to descend to the Belopše lakes, if starting from there too via Via Italiana to Mangart
Thanks.

Best to descend via Travnik back to bivouac Nogara. From Mangart summit descend to saddle. First Via Italiana branches off, then path over Travnik (see map). There turn right and in half an hour at bivouac Nogara.

Via Italiana has been open since last year, when they repaired it.

Today we went up the Italian one to Mangart. It was very nice, great view. Recommended to all who like mountains. Slovenian path is closed though. Good luck.

Tomorrow we'd like to go via Via Italiana to Mangart. Did anyone go today and can easily say what the wall is like .. because supposedly it snowed yesterday.

Probably it'll be fine, since the day was warm. Still might be wet and slippery. We'll go check tomorrow. mežikanje

There really shouldn't be any problems. I doubt it even snowed at that altitude.

From the junction to Kotovo sedlo onwards there was still quite some snow, the path wet and slippery. Via Italiana was completely dry and summery. nasmeh

Maybe someone knows what the occupancy of Bivacco Nogara is like over the weekend, before entering the ferrata. Regards

Before work on a nice sunny day I had to stretch a bit. With a colleague we drove to Mangart (obviously they were giving something away for free) because there was quite a crowd, the cycling ascent is only tomorrow, so WATCH OUT, the road will be closed for at least a few hours in the morning. We quickly hopped over the saddle and down to the start of the secured path Via Italiana. It looked like some were at the bivouac, whether they slept there I don't know. During the week there shouldn't be problems with occupancy at Bivacco Nogara, but if it were full, the hut at Mangart saddle is barely an hour away. There was no crowd on the ferrata, so we progressed quite normally within the limits of the years we've accumulated. We continued on the Slovenian to the top and so after 2 hours already descending on the Italian. There too many were still ascending, quite a few with poles which I'm sure were just a hindrance to most. So once again, poles don't belong on secured paths. Someone can claim otherwise but won't convince me.

Hey Igor, where exactly did you go? I didn't quite get it. From the saddle you entered the ferrata from the Belopeška jezera, then along the Slovenian to Mangart? No offense if I shot a couple of goats with thiszavijanje z očmi
