I took the ski set to the Maya Maya store for a complaint.
After 10 days, I got a response that the complaint was rejected.
Despite it tearing at all possible seams (jacket and pants) and I've had both already 3x in repair (see the post above).

In the explanation why they rejected it, their idiotic court expert officially wrote: (I got this in a letter by mail)
-lifespan of ski clothing in case of intensive use is limited to one ski season, which also applies to the specific complained items
-given the degree of damage, I assess the complained items as completely worn out or destroyed...
-unprofessional repair caused additional fabric damage (their response when I tried to fix it temporarily with clamps)

oh, and all damages are of physical nature.
yeah, of course [they're] physical, it didn't tear by itself but when I moved. how should I know that everything breaks if you stretch a bit...

the idiot also concluded that for "destroyed items" it's not the quality of material or seams to blame (ah where...), but me, saying I used it too intensively.

with this set I logged 40 ski days this year. Has
anyone ever heard that a ski set is meant only for one season use?
fuck them. I won't even set foot in Maya Maya anymore.

Probably I'm the only "lucky one"... on the jacket the glued front zipper and hood zipper broke - after 2 years of intensive use. I took it to the Maya Maya store where it was bought. Without comment they took it and sent it for free repair. It really took almost a month, but the important thing is that I'll happily wear it. nasmeh

so we can conclude that Maya Maya and their customer service is worth one d*** and we can end the debate! they can have discounts up to 70% or more, but so what when it's all one big rip-off!jezen f*** this store, there are plenty of others, better ones!

I don't agree with all that. My wife bought a Maya-Maya softshell jacket two years ago. Almost 100 € for it. She uses it for hikes as well as in the city. And the jacket isn't damaged at all, not worn from the backpack. I myself have a Goretex jacket with removable Polartek inner part (on the sleeve there's still the first Maya-Maya logo). It's surely over 10 years old. And in all these years the zipper broke last year. In Maya-Maya in Kranj they told me who repairs it for them and they fixed it for 8 €. I have only good experiences with Maya-Maya.

I also have no complaints about the quality of my softshell jacket bought over 4 years ago. I wore it for 3 years - autumn and winter seasons, then I bought a Mammut one only because the first didn't have a hood, which is essential for mountain visits. But I still happily wear it for short walks, to the city...
But I have to say that their promotions and tribe prize games annoy me, when you get a voucher and spend it without discounts that apply to other customers, which is a very big rip-off zavijanje z očmijezen
They won't see me often in their stores, and even less will I spend there.

There are many better stores than theirs. Price-wise (don't know where they get those prices) especially also with customer service. Those promotions of theirs are anyway one load of crap. I don't buy anything from them.

It took me quite some time to respond to this kind of 'post' that quite disturbed me in my otherwise carefree enjoyment and (especiallymežikanje) practical application of various useful debates on these pages.

Personally, I'm more or less against material trade in today's form and I'm convinced much closer to the 'historical' barter system - but that's another story and for the transition to such (and today often unwanted and criticized?!) social order we're probably quite guilty ourselves too... nasmeh

Pointing fingers is easiest, thinking about one's own actions most often hard.

As a passionate hiker and recreational, I already (more or less mežikanje) know my wishes and my body's needs - and I clearly adapt the clothes I wear and use to those needs. Among them are often Maya Maya brand clothes that provide me with effective protection and support I need in my movement. Period.

Nowadays not all clothes are tailored from 'military' rigid materials capable of surviving 10 years of merciless use - all in turn are much more comfortable, stretchier, more adaptable and (precisely therefore mežikanje) often more vulnerable. When buying a running shirt and socks I'm not looking for clothes that will withstand the load of heavier boots or backpack - here I want lightness, breathability and comfort.

Something completely different is of course clothing for harder mountaineering tours, that's clear I suppose...

We all feel - and are able to soon feel the stretch and durability of individual materials and fabrics. To this fact (which is often followed by sellers' opinion op.p) I most often adapt my choice of (any and all) products... from carpenter's hammer onwards!! Since their saleswoman once pointed out some mismatch to me and at the same time emphasized proper combination of individual Maya Maya company products, I personally haven't felt major problems.

For the mentioned entanglements with unpleasant breakdowns, at least in the cases I know, their 'service department' took very good care (which is in my experience a rare thing in stores like Iglu and Promontana... also Big Bang and Mercator ?!) - which is there mainly to support customers - but apparently it's often (Slovenian style zmeden) taken for granted and NECESSARY??

If at the end I just slightly undercut the beginners (and passionate 'instigators') of this topic - why in the first warranty report is the difference between purchase date and claim date (or inspection) as much as 6 months? Why is the date in the second specimen also 'suspiciously' erased??
Honesty used to mean something once. Apparently nowadays it's more rarity than rule. zmeden

Anyway enjoy your indignation. You can't take away satisfaction from some so quickly... nasmeh

Actually I was thinking of ending, but since I was just challenged...

Everyone forms their own opinion and that's right, I'm glad for critical posts.

The company just pays the expert to write an opinion in their favor. And counts that the customer won't, because of costs. That's how simple it is. Cynical response from their side (management), that I can use other means (and that the matter is closed from their side) already shows that. I've got so many responses (not just here), that I can already say it's established practice.

I bought the jacket in "sale" (actually already after, but that's not so important) and it went straight into the closet then - those few cold days I still wore the old softshell. Actually with sales I often do that - and no item has stayed in the closet forever, I've learned that much at my age. I didn't know I was dishonest for that.

One more thing - how often should I have that jacket up in summer? It's quite warm, at 25 and more degrees it somehow doesn't come into question mežikanje...

My father also has very good experiences with Maya Maya (though on his "last year's" jacket one of those welded straps on the shoulder came off, but they fixed it without problem (by prior agreement they sewed it on and now the jacket isn't waterproof anymore, but no other way to fix). Other things (double pants and really oooold jacket) are still like new - considering age.

I didn't expect "military rigid material for 10 years", but the jacket was worn ca. 3 hours. For a walk, without backpack. Between 10 years and 3 hours there's a difference. They still sell them, anyone convinced I'm lying can buy and check. This jacket doesn't survive a backpack, although the stated purpose is hiking. The jacket name is in the expert opinion at my post.

But in my opinion I have the right to complain if I pay for a jacket and get something that really isn't worth the name. And I don't enjoy that at all...

I'll add my experience myself. This year I bought a tent in INTERSPORT store: tent super until it rained, tent didn't leak at seams but at the window opening which was poorly constructed. AFTER 14 DAYS USE THEY REPLACED THE TENT WITH A NEW ONE hat down, but it had the same fault after second claim they returned the money.nasmeh The fault was also checked by court expert.nasmehnasmeh:

It seemed very funny to me when I saw in Maya Maya an ordinary cotton t-shirt for 25 € or a windbreaker made of ordinary polyvinyl for 200 €. When I asked if they were a bit crazy, the saleswoman said that's just quality.

Buy a softshell at Hofer for 17 €, and it will rip if a cat or dog jumps on it.

Oh oh, I can't get past you. I'm a seamstress for almost 20 years and a passionate hillwalker, to explain some things about materials, clothes themselves etc. You have to realize that some materials are basically very very bad today, because manufacturers save everywhere. The European market of super quality producers of these materials has collapsed under China, only a few remain, they have astronaut prices today but keep quality. Even our former material factories were top-notch, not today - I just pick it up and know it's "pofl" material, because I get a lot in my hands. I'll add that sometimes I get a new jacket worn out to the end, sometimes the same old one for a few years is like new, just change a zipper. A lot depends on the user themselves, some are really sloppy. So it's not necessary that a softshell from Hofer for 17€ wouldn't be just as functional as a top one. But there's something - we remained real mountain mannequins and we want to look even better when we arrive sweaty and muddy up to our ass, and for me it's important that I'm not cold, that I feel comfortable even if it's a bit messed up or wrinkled.

Bionka nicely explained how the material feels under the skin. I firmly believe that for 17€ you don't get quality, let alone functionality, cut, zippers, reinforcements, breathability and thus durability of a jacket. As the expert said, the product first starts to differ from the choice of basic raw material - fabric. Work processes, sewing method, placement of zippers, pockets, helmet hood, patent closures on sleeves, elasticity in parts etc. is already another science. Not every company is able to make a top product because it lacks funds or technology. I've tested quite a few brands and also flops but I rarely choose the latter (for clothes around home, lowland hikes, work). For top products you always pay part of the company's renown, but the product fully serves its purpose for years.

Hello!

I'd like to add my experience with the MAYA MAYA store. I'll try to be as objective as possible and focus only on facts. If you notice any subjectivity, I apologize in advance, as it wasn't intended.

I bought three "waterproof" pants from them when they had a -70% sale. The pants alone cost 187€ (with discount 56€). I'm attaching the receipt as proof in the pictures. The pants are made of approx. 0.2 mm thick plastic (Gore-Tex variant), under which there is a mesh, as visible from the picture. They can be used as pants alone, or if it's colder, over other pants. I bought two on 15.10.2010, the third on 18.10.2010 (visible from receipts). The 187€ price for pants is very high, so I imagined they were really good.

I'm a student in Ljubljana and I use these pants only if I go for a morning walk in the rain, or if it's raining and I go by bike to lunch in them. Mostly I'm in my room, so even when wearing them, about 2h/day. I washed the first pants 1x, the second 2x, the third I never wore. I've never been in mountains or anything like that. Used exclusively in Ljubljana on the Bežigrad-Center, Bežigrad-BTC route (on foot or by bike). If estimating wear time: first about 20 hours, others max 40-50h.

The first pants are falling apart completely. That white lining from the inside under the mesh has cracked everywhere. Pictures show some larger cracks, but the pants are full of small ones. They don't hold water as they should. The second pants... instead of repelling and holding water, they soak it completely... I have to admit they are a bit better than normal jeans, but please... 20 000 mm water column??? Where?? My whole thigh is wet... This is also visible from the picture, where you can see how they absorb water... whole stains..

If there's still any doubt about the quality, you can look at the picture with three straps at the end of the pants. Two pants are pictured. One is unworn, the other is the one I washed 2x. After a few walks, the straps peeled off halfway. Since they looked silly hanging, I tried to pull them down by hand to the end. You won't believe what glue they used... normal office adhesive tape holds much stronger than this glue... I've never seen anything like this (except with Chinese stuff).. for pants that cost 20€, I'd be surprised they dare to put something like this on the market..

Today it was raining outside. I decided to go by bike in these pants through the rain to lunch and then to MAYA MAYA to show the salesgirl how the pants absorb water and leak. When I arrived at the store and showed the salesgirl the water stains on the pants and said they leak, the first reaction was that these aren't even MAYA MAYA pants at all. Then I turned and showed them the MAYA MAYA stitching on the knee. Then the standard apologetics began... how to convince me that I was to blame for everything..

They told me I was the very first with this problem and that everyone else was extremely happy.. And the salesgirl also has such pants and they are incredible.. Then they mentioned 100 times that these pants aren't made for many washes.. then of course I said, even if not.. 2 washes must hold!!! 187€.. please??? Are they for single use???
Then the salesgirl slowly ran out of excuses.. and admitted that this still shouldn't happen.. in 2 months and 2 washes.. I also slowly felt how they could hardly wait to get rid of me.. and dismiss me.. For fun I asked just what I could do.. and the answer was NOTHING!!! That I should dry them and impregnate them.. that's it… there was no talk of any warranty or anything similar.. I didn't even mention the first pants that are falling apart from the inside..

Anyway… I'm happy only that I didn't pay 187€ for each pair of pants… this would really be the robbery of the century… 56€, well, I'll survive..
If I were to metaphorically describe these pants, I'd say they are like some expensive off-road vehicle that completely falls apart when you park it on the sidewalk. Anyway, nothing praiseworthy from my side..

Complain.
Even if bought on sale, they must refund money, not necessarily replace product.

I have some products and am generally satisfied with them. But I've already heard from several (especially about ski suits) that the stuff simply falls apart, my brother also had their jacket and it was all "fuzzy" or "messed up" in half a year.

Personally, I no longer buy their products. It seems to me that for a similar price you can get much better clothes in other stores (Mammut, Berghaus, The North Face ...)
