bionika, you know, even in some frozen waterfall it can nicely shower you. And then it's good to have a waterproof jacket

by email I got this message from two colleagues. Let everyone form their own opinion about the truth of the event and everything else. QUOTE: My friend's story. I'm sending it for awareness of what's happening on our market and it seems right to me that people find out... There's a Maya Maya shop in Bled. They advertise on the radio all year that they are CLEARING STOCKS !!!! For those who don't know yet, let me tell you, they sew and make everything in CHINA !!! I have totally bad experiences with this shop and tons of bad info from others too. In the fall I bought a hardshell+softshell set. Everything tears, seams peeled off, they repair 3-4 weeks ... I paid more than 500 EUR for the set! But a few weeks ago, when I got the jacket back from repair for the second time, in the bag that I got from the shop, I found sheets or price lists for this season. But these sheets had one peculiarity - obviously meant for internal use, since it's some Excel table where all purchase prices, transport costs, margins... You can't believe how they rip us off. Purchase price for my jackets was: - Balam Jacket 40.52 EUR (selling 249 EUR) - Alkamin Jacket 53.08 EUR (selling 347 EUR) Compared to the selling price of both jackets they have over 500% margin!!!!!!! I was thinking about gloves too, since they have some sale now, but when I saw purchase prices, it passed me. (purchase 8.85 EUR, selling was more than 60 EUR). They won't see me in Maya Maya shops ever again! END OF QUOTE.

damned thieving scoundrels... but unfortunately that's how it is, everything is made in China, margins are astronomical anyway. go to a workwear shop and buy softshell for 40 euros done, and pants for 50 done. But for some the "brand" is still important. F*** the brand, main thing is you're not cold!

I have one such "work" softshell for 40 EUR, on which we had our company logos made, and I'm much more satisfied with it than with North Face one for 150 EUR (in full sale). That's how it is today....they rip us off like pigs!!!

Haha, what the f... . I bought softshell pants in Spar for 40 eur, and they are very fine for me, it's a shame to pay 3x or 4x more. Seams don't tear, and they're ideal for skiing too. They rip us off elsewhere too, honestly!!!! Also with technology.

My head hurts when I read this. How can you stoop to such a low level and slander others (not to mention the swear words you write). Don't you have anything else to do but vent your frustrations on others. Better go to nature, or help someone in distress or go for coffee with friends and enjoy positive chat, read a good book or do something smarter and more useful. Remember also: whoever digs a pit for another falls into it himself. Next thoughts I dedicate to the editor of this site: I think this site was originally designed so that hikers and all active people can find on these pages, exchange experiences about hikes and other events. Obviously it has become a free "gossip" page for individuals who heal their wounded ego by spitting on others and of course anonymously, because they don't dare expose themselves publicly anyway. If it were a serious informational website you wouldn't allow users to write such negative things. Remember that life is only one and it must be enjoyed and respected as much as possible. I wish everyone a nice greeting and be as positive as possible.

Sporty are you on Maya Maya's payroll or have you lost touch with reality. You with your post didn't help anyone even a little or do anything useful - but you still decided to spit on us a bit. If you don't want to read this, just don't. And regarding the mentioned anonymity, I'm really curious under which nick you otherwise write on this forum. I for one don't need extra nicks, because I stand behind what I say. You under this nick have only this post - so?!?

sporty, you know what, if Maya Maya isn't ashamed to sell such poor quality stuff, then there's no slightest reason to worry about negative comments. Don't you think it's interesting that everyone spits on Maya, but nobody, say, on Kariboo? True, whoever digs a pit for another falls into it - and Maya Maya has already dug itself a pretty solid grave with its policy and quality. I just hope the sedmina comes soon

Based on your statements, I got lucky with Moja Maya. I bought the windbreaker and thermal undershirt about eight years ago. Very okay and quality-made but not top-notch. Since I also have a Salewa windbreaker and soft jacket, I can compare. It seems the company, in the chase for bigger profits, degraded in the meantime. In the long run, it will obviously fail according to the impressions I read. Exploiting customer trust is like metastasis that spreads if not treated. We live in a time when a dissatisfied buyer quickly finds similar experiences on the net and here we are. Shame. Alpina also makes many of its trek shoes, especially synthetic ones, in China, and just adds the emblem and name. They are not ashamed when it says Made in China. I hope they are not made by children in sweatshops. Planika, which also makes for Mendel, works in Turnišče in Prekmurje. Look at their PDF products; I'm satisfied and, as a hiker, satisfied. Maja maja!

I didn't want to interfere in your "smart" conversations, but I have to respond to you three. I'm not defending anyone. I'm interested in human psychology and forum interactions, and to research that I have to read forums too. How else can you research anything? It's not in my nature to spit on anyone, because I think that's not right. From your responses to my comment above, your attitude towards other people is visible. With the above comment, I just wanted to say to focus on your partner, family or friends instead of sitting in front of the computer and writing nonsense. That's all from my side and I don't intend to waste more time on this forum, because my time is too precious.

If we did it your way, then your arrogant research work would fail... and you wouldn't have anything to do, nothing to advise anyone about.... and you'd have more time left for your partner, family or friends. The only thing I'll still say about this debate with you is this: read your own posts a bit and think about them. In the same breath as you advise us not to do something, you yourself do exactly that. And I strongly hope that you'll stick to at least the last sentence in your post. lp

But I think even the most prestigious clothing brands are worth nothing if you don't use them, wear them out and destroy them; money must circulate, otherwise everything collapses, not just Maya Maya.

While we're all evaluating today's products, I must share some observations not just mine, but also from mountaineers who've been going to the mountains for at least 15 years. Mr. Miro and I talked about today's instant gear quality on Struška. Many items from most brands have declined in quality around 2000. We found that expensive boots wear out after two years. The famed Vibram sole is just a shadow now. Everything slips like the devil, except maybe light summer La Sportiva ones, but they wore out (rubber sole) after six long hikes despite great grip. My Fitwell ones are already peeling after one summer. Then those membrane soft shells, expensive as hell, but you're cold in them more than half the year. Don't get me started on Ferino tents etc., they leak like a sieve. Trekking ski poles break like matches. Lately no purchase attracts me, you just buy a pig in a poke unless you know what you're buying. Companies are just getting rich on superficial products made with unsuitable poor materials. But I notice specialized companies focusing on small product ranges, developing them optimally for harsh conditions. Mountain Hardwear definitely belongs there, it'll outperform others on our market (Montura, Rab, Vaude, Mammut, Marmot, Patagonia, Love alpine) in price and quality. Companies will have to rethink their offerings, not just left hand-right pocket, but if they can't provide quality, at least price accordingly what they send to market.

BRAVO VIHARNIK that's what I wanted to finally hear/read here on this forum, exactly as you wrote, can't claim for other things, but definitely confirm for textiles, the basic materials are really a pale shadow of 10 years ago and sadly due to China's penetration and the death of Europe's veeeeeery quality textile market we'll have to accept that jackets won't last 10 years anymore, be it Mamut or Breghaus or Maya

I'm glad I found this MayaMaya thread to vent my anger too. MayaMaya sounds so nice it always tempts me to go in when passing the store. But then I go out again, very little choice and very expensive. I remember years ago looking for a down jacket for mountains, they only had ones girls wear to cafes showing kidneys. They said only that model, but many colors. Last year I fell for their "deal", they sent one sock by mail, then for small extra you got the second I think. That way I got two pairs size 43. First used one pair and washed at 60 degrees. I do that with all sportswear touching skin. After wash one sock normal, same as before, the other shrunk to ~38. I said ok happens, material mixup. Then repeated with second pair, surprise same result. Threw small ones away, use the normal ones still washing at 60. Only regret (like Guliver wrote), don't know which shrank: the two from mail or the two bought later? Best regards!
