Mrzla gora

So, the word became flesh. Mrzla gora gave me nice moments, though on the SLO side (view from the top) a bit foggy despite the early hour. Praise to the ferrata builders on both sides, from Okrešelj and then to Matkov kot. I'd recommend gloves besides the helmet, as the holds are sharp; I feel the consequences today but no regret anyway. After 30 years, my wish was fulfilled. The tour dedicated to Franček Štiglic from Zadrečka dolina (82 years) and Mrzla gora remained an unfulfilled wish for him, as in his youth there was no will to seek a border permit. Good luck to all on the paths wherever you go.
P.S. Thanks to the older couple (from Škofja Loka), who drove me by car from the end of Matkov kot, the intersection with the road to Pavličevo sedlo, to the Rinka waterfall... good people still exist!!!!

Instead of exploring trentarske slopes (forecast afternoon mists), yesterday I decided for a visit to Mrzla gora. Last time via Hudi prask, this time the classic path from Okrešelj. Car left at my parking above Jermanec and in the fresh morning visited friends-caretakers Simon and Jerca at Kamniško sedlo. On descent to Okrešelj had to explain countless times to oncoming that not so diligent returning from saddle but doing a bit unusual mountain tour.
To Mrzla gora panted exactly with first mists swirling around peaks. Don't know the author of Okrešelj - Mrzla gora 3.5 hours data, probably sent old mum up who was never in mountains before.

You know, guidebooks say Okrešelj-Mrzla gora 3:30... sign at Okrešelj says the same. I am 54 years old. It took me 3:30... really photographed a little and watched nature. Probably young guy, I too ran to Kamniško sedlo say 1:38... or less.. or Velika Planina.. say Slovenian transverzala 1982, weekends and holidays, in one year, walked it 3x in life but no stamps anymore, don't go to mountains for stamps, once did, later climbed a little for joy, today see it differently, so don't belittle slower ones, let the fast ones have years bring wisdom... good luck!

and of course for the Mrzla gora entry too... Years ago a permit was really needed and some of us never arranged it.

Thanks likewise and good luck, especially when you go alone into the mountains. Tomorrow to Košuta, interesting, I've never been there, otherwise on the other side of Košuta in Zg. Kot (Zell-Winkell) I was often with my Carinthian friend Franci, and Berta and felt like at home, we also visited Grloče (Ferlach Horn). Beautiful memories, so tomorrow I will look with even greater joy at our beautiful Carinthia.

Mrzla gora today offered top views of the Okrešelj side and misty in Matkov kot.
Quite a few visitors. It was just as it can only be in the mountains...... nice.

There are plenty of markers, just follow them....

garmont,,,OK...next week I'm taking clients from Slovakia starting Wednesday overnight at Okrešelj, then over Turski žleb, Grintavec, Kočna, Czech hut, Ledine, Savinja saddle to Okrešelj...then I send them home, I go over the saddle to Kamniška Bistrica to the car...3 days of fun..if we see each other say hi..in the hut I treat...next to me helmet with my nick..OK? stay safe...

Today visited Mrzla gora. Started at Jezersko (Ravenska Kočna), continued on Slovenian path to Kranjska koča, Jezersko saddle, Savinjsko saddle, a bit down towards Okrešelj and then to Mrzla gora. Return on climbing path under Rinkami to Kranjska koča and descent to valley.
Path to Mrzla gora is demanding so I went some on two some on all four. Path is varied, a bit up-down-up.
They say in old times many crossed border smuggling here and many froze so mountain got name.

How nice to read your posts, congrats on conquered mountain!!
Sadly I hardly get over 2000, not at all on climbing paths. Pity started only at 40, before no money no will(others), now on "new life path" enjoying with partner every beautiful moment in mountains.

don't despair too soon. Even if started "only" at 40s, you can still stand on many summits you now admire from afar. Know many who started later and climbed lots.

@marinka67, never too late for mountains, you'll reach over 2000m too, slowly but surely nasmeh

. Height no measure at all, lower peaks offer much beauty too. Important to have nice time and enjoy. Good luck and safe path.

marinka67, I've been hiking in the mountains for 20 years, I've conquered quite a few two-thousanders, but I still haven't been to Triglav, and I'm not ashamed of it at all. Maybe some day.... That's how it is. Something frightens a person, he is afraid, but doesn't know why. You too might overcome some fear, but slowly, each year more, each year higher. If not, so many lower peaks that are wonderful, unique views, unforgettable feelings. No matter how high you are, what's important is that your heart jumps for joy and your soul sings. nasmeh

Thanks for the encouragement, it's not so much about fear, Raduha, Olševa, Pristovski Storžič, Kranjska koča, you need to climb a bit, but it goes. Such vertigo peaks like Mrzla gora I prefer to view from other peaks nasmeh

"Kitschy" weather! Ascent from Logar Valley without issues. Since it was really nice weather, I took advantage of these conditions for a side trip to Savinja Saddle and enjoyed our mountain beauties in truly beautiful weather.

This morning I made the ascent to Cold Mountain. Started in the dark at the end of the valley, past Rinka waterfall, Okrešelj and towards the marked trail to the summit. Didn't go under Rinka wall (sometimes it rumbles), but chose the right upward variant earlier.
At the top enjoyed warm sun with great views, descended the gully right of Western route - snow toboggan.
Weather really springlike, snow soft, on the ridge mostly can avoid snow with easier climbing. Of course, if we don't like it!
Met only one randonnée skier and two hikers, despite very nice weather.
