With a buddy, we found out that Mrzla Gora still "missing" for him; I was there only once and it's been at least 15 years. We parked in Logar Valley and quickly reached Okrešelj and continued towards Mrzla Gora. Wind forecast was about 50 km/h, but it was really felt only in a few places. Choice was also lucky, as there was no cloud above Mrzla Gora, Rinka, Planjava, Skuta and others all had caps.
At the entry to the climbing part we stowed poles, put on helmets and jackets so it wouldn't be cold, then climbed to the top. I have to admit I remembered a much crumblier mountain, but the rock in important places is very compact and grips well on friction. The path is also nicely routed mostly on natural passages, so at least we liked it a lot and excitedly realized we have to visit it more times. True, protection is sparse and less experienced will probably have more trouble approaching.
At the top greeting to fellow climber, handshake, a few pics and nicely back to the valley. On descent we met one more couple, otherwise people were mostly heading to Savinja saddle.
It was nice.

July days had rain forecast for yesterday, so I decided to repeat the Kamnik classic from Jermanca to Mrzla Gora. The hut keeper at Kamnik saddle almost convinced me, it'll rain by ten. Good I didn't listen, as sun accompanied me from Okrešelj right to the summit. At the top I was angry because I was a few minutes late, fog wrapped the summit in a moment. It was also windy strongly, at times had to stick to the rocks, such strong gusts. Path in good condition, fixed ropes too, no visitors except three guys I met on return. Dead quiet also in front of the hut under construction at Okrešelj, no workers even, emptiness also back at the hut on the saddle wrapped in thick fog. Whole day not a drop of rain, but knees started to 'complain', still in rehab phase, on return to Jermanca, as about 2200m descent they can't handle fully yet.

Has anyone been to Mrzla Gora recently? (From Okrešelj direction)
Are there any special features on the path?

Since I hadn't visited for a long time, I climbed from Logarska via Okrešelj to the summit of Cold Mountain. Path normally passable, no special features. At the summit quite a few visitors where we treated ourselves to strawberry cream

Already the third time besides the winter Matkov kot I visited Cold Mountain 2203m. It gets varied right from the kot and escalates to the summit. After some meters of scrambling soon snow with 60-degree slope, base from start still ok, 10cm southern snow, below hard, but later on details under rocks less snow, need to find safest passages and watch edge cracks. Below Latvica there was slightly more southern snow and in the morning sinking 30cm, on return already to knees. Real troubles start above Latvica in the climbing part, sometimes annoying scratching with crampons on rock, elsewhere awkward wet snow where ice axes grip poorly, danger also that everything slides to the valley. Below summit marked path not passable, winter route under the wall also not best due to southern snow. But goes with those big ice axes. On summit real winter, cold and wind, later nice day formed in the valley. 🙂

Today 24.6. visited Cold Mountain. Path almost entirely dry, crosses one short snowfield approx. 2m where need to be a bit careful. Rest without problem.

Sunday, 2.7.2023 (Logarska-Okrešelj-summit)
As soon as we stepped out of the car, it started lightly raining, but it cleared up before we tightened our hiking boots. At Okrešelj already sunshine, which accompanied us high under the summit. Before entering the secured part we met two young guys already descending, then the mountain was just ours, of course the summit too, which we shared with ptarmigans. Bread not to their taste, cheese and prosciutto still OK, the one that flew off with a cherry in its beak probably had Mary appear to it. Weather noticeably worsened during ascent, luckily not to the point of having to rush to the valley. Descent over secured part careful and slower, then poles in hands and "gas pa dolge". Well, almost, we didn't fly, but stepped quickly. Passing glance at the hut under construction, stop at Savinja spring and already at the car. There like in the morning small shower that accompanied us almost to the farmhouse Ojstrica, where we properly tied our souls. Great trip, 'after' no less

My visit this year was two weeks later than last year, in excellent weather, not like Wednesday on Mangart when forecasters failed. Pleasantly surprised by trimmed scrub branches on Gornji Okrešelj and new cables in Mrzla gora walls. No other changes along the path practically, bivouac roof at Pastirci collapsing relentlessly, new Frischauf looks same outside as last year same time.
As said, no wind, fog or cold, sadly no visitors either. Enjoyed summit solitude 55 mins until two visitors joined, whom I passed at junction to Savinjsko sedlo.
Sure I'd meet keeper at new Okrešelj hut and get something, dealt with hysterical bartender from next door saying no staying on construction site. Well, hung wet clothes to dry there already, sat in 'safe haven' of his pub. Like morning, stayed half hour at Kamniško sedlo, learned they'll operate only till next weekend.
At Jermanca got Forestry notice on wiper that my car is off designated roads.
Being old, that note didn't spoil my great day in nature.
