Mcgiver, they are growing, but they say not everywhere. On Pokljuka they said too little rain. I was in Karavanke, altitude approx. between 1000 and 1300 m.

I was picking them yesterday above Tržič, below the Dolga Njiva pasture. The forest was full of people, mushrooms enough that even with crowds you can still find chanterelles. My goal was visiting the mountains, I wouldn't drive that far just for a basket of mushrooms.  But it's nice if you can combine both activities.
