Before Chernobyl I was a passionate mushroomer. Sadly I stopped picking mushrooms then. But I have a colleague in Škofja Loka who knows hundreds of mushroom species growing in Slovenia. Last time on hike to Planina nad Vrhnikami he showed a Hericium. He distinguishes all three types-coral, bear's and crested. I didn't remember which one. He said it's extremely rare and we were lucky to see it.

Branko, in "Chernobyl time" I was in Paklenica,
only sky was above us. Mushrooms we didn't eat, but drank Zlatorog and it seems helped.
Mushrooms of course I didn't stop picking. I like searching them more than picking. Today I only photographed them.

In Chernobyl time I was on Triglav ski magistral, alone, no living souls anywhere. Slept at 7 lakes, Prehodavci, Dolič, Veliko polje in winter rooms. Melted snow, cooked teas and soups, at home already dandelion, yet I'm alive today, no consequences. But mushrooms I don't pick anyway. Lp!

A couple days ago I ran into shelf fungi. Never seen so many in a pile. Namely in the village. No one picked them. Me neither.
