Nanos

Today my wife and I did the ascent to Nanos. We started the path from in front of the hunting lodge. Despite occasional cooler wind blowing, the warm sun warmed us up nicely. At the top or at the hut there were lots of visitors and those were schoolkids on a trip. Since we did a longer tour yesterday, today's was just right and satisfied our needs for mountains. Lp

Yesterday we went from Razdrto via the steep path to the Vojak hut on Nanos. It was sunny and windy in the upper part. Lp Esther, Damijan and Tadej

On St. Martin's Sunday we went to Nanos from Abram farm. It was windy, sunny and not too strenuous. We recommendnasmeh

Do they still have the bear at Abram's? Best regards Francnasmeh

At Abram they still have a 12-year-old 450 kg heavy bear who becomes quite nervous towards evening, don't know if because of visitors or hunger. But at Abram they also have very good gnocchi with porcini. Lp, Tadeja

Thanks for the info, we didn't have even the slightest chance to get to the table, because there was an occupation by spaghetti-eaters. Interesting that their ancestors terrorized Slovenes, now they devour our tables too, and if only they weren't so loud.
The bear was really very restless, most likely hungry, as he moved very nervously only along the fence that borders the goat pen. He's probably used to people, especially since he is already 12 years old and always has so many visitors. lp, Vanjanasmeh

Well, that's exactly why I don't go to Abram's because of that poor bear, it seems like animal torture to me. To me it really doesn't seem like an attractive attraction to have such a big animal locked up for so many years in a cage on that concrete, with daily gawkers. Who wouldn't be nervous...zmeden

I agree that it's not exactly pleasant to have a bear in a cage for so many years, but I can't imagine releasing him into the wild now. Well, maybe then it would be easier to get a free table at Abram's, since there wouldn't be so many spaghetti-eaters. Maybe the bear is also so loud because of the noise...Tadeja

I'm glad that spaghettis bother someone else too. There are too many of them also on Snežnik and Slavnik. The bear is probably really an attraction, but outside the fence he most likely wouldn't survive anymore, and probably doesn't have the condition either. lp Vanjanasmeh

But I also met very nice people among spaghettis. In my opinion it's not right to dislike them so generally.

Awesome!! Wouldn't have thought that Pero Lovšin visits this forum. Do you go to the mountains too? Unbelievable. Surely there are good people among the spaghettis too, no one doubts that, what bothers me is their fast talk, even more the noise they make everywhere they appear. I'm not intolerant. But this year I met a spaghetti guy on Visoki Kanin in flip-flops. Even photographed him. If I knew how to put the picture up here, I'd show it to everyone, let Nataša Pirc stand on her head, ha ha

But they really were in flip-flops, however I think those are the Teva brand ones or something like that with soles for mountains. Saw their description in Polet. Saw them on Mangart too, shame there were no cops that day. Regards Vanja.

About those who walk in flip-flops or light sneakers, here's this. When this year on Žvižgavec I warned two how shod they were, they looked at me like a bull at new gates. Nice regards, Francjezen

I don't care how anyone is shod, everyone answers for themselves, what bothers me most is that because of irresponsible people the mountain rescuers risk their necks! Hope they charge such a one well, so he remembers such stupidity. Luckily I notice there are fewer such and more hikers set off with proper footwear!

Safe travels

Mountain rescuers charge nothing unfortunately but countless times risk their heads because of those described. It'd be high time they started charging

I was on Nanos yesterday afternoon, there were no crowds because of the cloudy and foggy weather. The hut was empty, on the way up and down met a couple of hikers. The weather was OK, just a bit windy.

Cheers, Boštjan.nasmeh

With the family we went to Nanos via the gentler path from Razdrto. The path is nice and not too steep, so it seems suitable also for younger kids. Weather nice, sunny, just from St. Hieronymus church onwards a bit of bora wind. Nice afternoon hike. LP Andrej
